The Victron investor-loaders (MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro) report faults in two ways: by means of the Front LED and, if there is a GX device (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX), via a VE.Bus error code visible on the GX screen, in VRM and in VictronConnect. This guide covers both and adds error code #67 relating to communication with the BMS.
LED alarms (without the GX device)

With VictronConnect (Bluetooth via the VE.Bus Smart Dongle or MK3-USB cable), you will be able to view these alarms as text messages, along with the history.
VE.Bus error codes (with GX)

General rule: in parallel or three-phase systems, All units must have the same firmware and the same configuration file. Most errors 1–4 and 7 are caused by failing to comply with this.
Error #67: BMS connection lost
This appears in Cerbo GX when CAN communication with the BMS of a managed battery has been lost (Pylontech, Pytes, ZYC, BYD LV, Victron, Lynx BMS). With DVCC active, the inverter and MPPT units stop charging for safety reasons.
- Check the Type A CAN cable (VE.Can to CAN-bus BMS) between the GX and the master battery. It’s a specialised cable, not a standard RJ45; you can find it at Victron cables.
- Check that the correct port on the GX is set to 500 kbit/s “CAN-bus BMS (LV)” (Settings → Services).
- Check that the master battery is switched on and that the CAN terminator is at the other end of the bus.
- Following a power cut, some batteries take a minute to resume posting; the error clears itself.

Other common alarms in VRM
- Low battery voltage / High voltage: VEConfigure thresholds or BMS limits. Check the battery profile.
- Grid lost: The inverter has rejected the grid due to voltage/frequency being out of range or because the grid code does not match (Spain: “Other / UNE 217002” in accordance with applicable regulations).
- Inverter overload: See also: LED Overload.
- VE.Bus system: Charge current limited by low temperature: The (lithium) battery temperature is below 5 °C and the BMS blocks charging. This is a standard safety measure.
Reset procedure
- 1. Switch off the AC loads.
- 2. Set the inverter switch to OFF and open the battery isolator switch.
- 3. Wait 2 minutes.
- 4. Close the isolator, switch on the inverter and then the GX.
- 5. Check in VRM that the error has been resolved.
