AIKO Solar is the manufacturer that has pioneered the technology ABC (All Back Contact) n-type to mass production. An ABC panel does not have a single metal line on the front face: all the contacts are on the back. The result is a larger light-collecting surface, better performance in partial shade and a very low temperature coefficient – something that is particularly noticeable every July afternoon in the Spanish climate.

What makes an AIKO solar panel different?

ABC technology eliminates the busbars frontal. This translates into three specific things: more power per square metre, because without the shading provided by the metal grille, the entire surface of the cell is active; better response to partial shading, as the rear-contact architecture reduces losses when a chimney or a tree obscures part of the module; and lower temperature loss, because n-type silicon degrades less and is not subject to the LID effect typical of p-type silicon. On Spanish rooftops, where the cell operates at 60–70 °C, this translates into real energy at the end of the year. Added to this is the finish all black from the residential range, with no visible lines on the front.

Module 485 W ABC n-type with a black frame and an all-black finish. It measures 176.2 × 113.4 × 3.0 cm and weighs 21.1 kg, so an installer can handle it unaided. AIKO Neostar 3S60 545W

545 W in a 60-cell ABC format, measuring 195.4 × 113.4 × 3.0 cm and weighing 27.1 kg, with 25-year product warranty. The balance between power and manageability for large residential and small commercial installations: fewer modules for the same power output, without having to move to an industrial-scale system.

AIKO Stellar 3N72 665W — FireClass A

The module for 665 W from the Stellar series, with a silver frame, 238.2 × 113.4 × 3.0 cm and weighing 32.2 kg. Certification Fire Class A, the most stringent fire reaction classification, making it suitable for industrial roofs and projects where fire safety regulations apply. 1,400 mm cable and MC4-EVO2 connectors.

Which AIKO panel should I choose for my installation?

For a detached house If you want a visible cover, the 485 W Neostar 3S54 in full black is the way to go: a consistent look and the longest warranty. If the cover is flexible and you want to reduce the number of modules and fixings, the Neostar 3S60, 545 W reduces the cost per watt installed. To industrial building or land, the 665 W Stellar 3N72 with FireClass A is undoubtedly the one that delivers. Bear in mind the inverter’s rating: with 665 W modules in series, the open-circuit voltage rises quickly and you’ll need to check the MPPT range. Frequently asked questions about AIKO solar panels

What does it mean when an AIKO panel is described as ABC n-type?

ABC stands for All Back Contact: all the electrical contacts are on the rear face of the module, with no metal grid at the front. ‘N-type’ refers to the doping of the silicon, which degrades less over time and is not subject to the LID effect typical of p-type panels. This combination results in higher efficiency, lower annual degradation and better performance in hot conditions.

Are AIKO panels better than LONGi or Jinko panels?

In terms of efficiency per square metre and performance in shaded conditions, AIKO’s ABC technology outperforms conventional TOPCon modules. On the other hand, the price per watt is usually slightly higher. If roof space is limited, AIKO is the better choice; if price is the deciding factor and there is plenty of space, a LONGi or a Jinko may turn out better. We assess this on a project-by-project basis.

How many years’ warranty do AIKO hobs come with?

It depends on the model: the 485 W Neostar 3S54 comes with a 30-year product warranty, the 545 W Neostar 3S60 has a 25-year warranty, and the 665 W Stellar 3N72 has a 15-year warranty. The product warranty covers manufacturing defects and is separate from the linear performance warranty.

What connectors do AIKO panels use?
