Inverter Chargers 48V to 220V

A 48 V inverter/charger It is the heart of an off-grid installation or a self-consumption system with residential-sized batteries: it converts the 48 V from the battery bank into 230 V, charges the battery from the mains or a generator and, in the Victron models, manages the automatic switchover between the mains and the battery in less than 20 ms. For power ratings of 3 kW and above, 48 V is the correct voltage: the current is four times lower than at 12 V, the cables are thinner, and the entire range of residential lithium-ion batteries (Pylontech, Pytes, ZYC, Victron) operates at this voltage.

Victron, MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II and Quattro 48 V range

• MultiPlus-II 48/3000, 48/5000, 48/8000, 48/10000 and 48/15000: The standard for residential use. An AC input, mains-switched output, ESS mode for self-consumption, PowerAssist, and the option for parallel and three-phase operation with up to 6 units per phase.
• Quattro 48/5000, 48/8000, 48/10000 and 48/15000: two AC inputs (mains and generator) with automatic switching; for off-grid installations with a generator set or with two power sources.
• EasySolar-II GX 48/3000 and 48/5000: MultiPlus-II, MPPT controller and Cerbo GX integrated into a single enclosure. The quickest way to set up a complete off-grid system.
• MultiPlus-II GX: with the built-in GX device for VRM, requiring no additional equipment.

How to choose the power rating

The continuous power (VA) must cover the total simultaneous loads, with a margin to allow for motor starts (pumps, compressors, air conditioning); the peak power of a MultiPlus-II is double its rated power for a few seconds. As a guide: 3,000 VA for a holiday home, 5,000 VA for a single-phase main residence, 8,000–10,000 VA or three-phase for large homes, heat pump systems and electric cars. The battery must be able to supply the current required by the inverter: a 48/5000 requires around 100 A, that is to say, at least two modules Pylontech US5000, Pytes or ZYC SIMPO 5000.

What else do you need?

DC fuse and isolator sized in accordance with the manual (125 A at 48/3000, 200 A at 48/5000), battery cable from 35 to 70 mm² in short lengths (cross-section calculator), a regulator SmartSolar MPPT For the panels, a Cerbo GX if the battery is a lithium battery with CAN communication and AC input and output protection. All equipment can be supplied pre-configured for your battery.
