Self-consumption Solar Kit

A self-consumption solar kit comprises the equipment used in a grid-connected installation: panels, an inverter and connection accessories, all sized to work together and comply with connection regulations.

What does a self-consumption kit include, and what does it not include?

It includes the main power generation and conversion equipment. Does not include the frame, which depends on your roof, nor the bespoke wiring, nor the planning permission.

That is why two quotes for the same power rating can differ so much: one includes the structure, protective fittings and processing, whilst the other includes only the casing.

Do I need to complete any formalities to install it?

Yes. A grid-connected self-consumption installation requires technical documentation or a design plan depending on the power output, a certificate from an authorised installer, notification to the regional government, and an application to the electricity supplier for compensation for surplus energy, if you wish to do so.
