24V-48V : DC-DC converters / Boosters

The DC-DC converters from 24 V to 48 V They step up the voltage of a 24 V system to power or charge 48 V equipment. This is an uncommon but necessary combination when upgrading an existing 24 V installation with new 48 V storage.

Can I switch from 24 V to 48 V without having to replace everything?

To some extent. The converter allows both bus systems to coexist whilst you make the transition: the new 48 V bank is powered by the existing system, and the old 24 V loads continue to operate. It is a temporary solution, not a permanent one: every conversion involves losses and introduces a new point of failure.

If the installation is set to expand, it makes sense to plan for a full switch to 48 V, where the current required for the same power output is half that of a 24 V system and the cabling works out much cheaper. See the full range of DC-DC converters.
