Single-phase solar inverters

Single-phase self-consumption inverters convert photovoltaic output into 230 V alternating current for homes with a single-phase supply, which is the case for the majority of residential properties in Spain.

What is the maximum power I can install on a single-phase supply?

The limit is set by your electricity supply, not the inverter. With a single-phase connection, the standard maximum contracted power is around 10–15 kW, and the photovoltaic system must fall within that range.

From there, converting to three-phase power isn’t just a matter of changing the inverter: it involves requesting a change in supply from the distribution company, with the associated costs and lead times. If you’re planning to expand — heat pump, electric vehicle, workshop — think about this before you set up.

Which single-phase inverter should I choose?

We are working on the range Fronius Primo GEN24 from 3 to 6 kW. The choice is determined by the ratio between the peak power of the panels and the inverter – which should be kept between 1.1 and 1.3 – and by the simultaneous power output you need to cover.

If there’s the option to add batteries at a later date, take a look at the Plus version at hybrid inverters: The additional cost today is lower than replacing the entire inverter in three years’ time.
