The charging voltage can be precisely adjusted to suit any sealed or unsealed battery system. In particular, sealed maintenance-free batteries must be charged correctly to ensure a long service life. Overvoltage will result in excessive gassing and venting of a sealed battery. The battery will dry out and fail.
With the exception of the three-phase input models, the chargers also accept DC power.
Each TG charger has a microprocessor that precisely controls the charging in three steps. The process takes place according to the IUoU feature (3-step charging) and charges faster than other processes.
As a result of the perfectly stabilised output voltage, a TG charger can be used as a power supply if batteries or large buffer capacitors are not available.
TG chargers have 2 isolated outputs. The second output, limited to approximately 4A and with a slightly lower output voltage, is intended for recharging a starter battery.
The Victron Skylla TG 24/100 (1+1) 120-240V - SDTG2401003 24V charger comes with a battery temperature sensor. When connected, the charging voltage automatically decreases as the battery temperature increases. This feature is especially recommended for sealed batteries that might otherwise overcharge and dry out due to ventilation.
To compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, TG chargers have a voltage sensor installed so that the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
