Pytes Energy manufactures 48 V rack-mounted LiFePO4 lithium batteries for solar storage. They are the direct alternative to Pylontech, offering better current performance and equally robust integration with Victron systems.
The Pytes range
V5 · 5.12 kWh at 51.2 V: The flagship model and the most widely installed. It supports higher charge and discharge currents than its direct competitors, which is particularly noticeable when the inverter demands high peak currents.
V5A: An evolution of the V5 with improvements to the BMS and communication management.
V16: the module with the highest capacity in the range, designed for large banks where it is important to minimise the number of units and the connections between them.
Pi LV1 and HV series: low- and high-voltage options for architectures other than the standard 48 V systems.
Why Pytes rather than Pylontech
The practical difference lies in the current. A V5 can handle a higher charge and discharge current than a US5000 of equivalent capacity, which matters when you have an inverter of 5 kW or more and want to be able to draw power from the battery at full power without the BMS limiting the output.
In return, Pylontech It tends to work out slightly cheaper per kWh and has been on the Spanish market for longer. We have published the Comparison of the Pytes V5 and the Pylontech US5000 based on data from actual installations.
Integration with Victron
The Pytes communicate via CAN with the Victron ecosystem and are compatible with DVCC control. This means that the MultiPlus-II It detects the actual charge status reported by the BMS and automatically adjusts voltages and currents, without the need for manual profile configuration.
They are piled up in rack cabinet and are connected in parallel to increase capacity. As with any brand, it is best not to mix modules of significantly different ages within the same bank.
Before you buy
Check that it is compatible with your inverter and work out the capacity based on your actual night-time consumption. If you tell us what equipment you have and how many kWh you need, we’ll confirm the exact configuration and product codes: technical advice free.
