They have been competing for the same customers for months: installers or private individuals looking for domestic solar storage integrated with a Victron system or similar. This comparison is based on real technical data and practical experience.

At virtually the same price, the Pytes V5 lithium solar battery offers greater capacity, higher discharge current, lower weight and better value per usable kWh. On paper, it comes out on top in almost every respect.

Inverter compatibility: as confirmed by the manufacturer

Both are 48V lithium batteries using CAN as their primary protocol. The most relevant compatible inverters for Spain, according to each manufacturer’s official lists:

  • Victron Energy (MultiPlus, Quattro): the Pytes V5 is officially approved by Victron, ensuring full integration with the Cerbo GX. The US5000 has been working with Victron for years without any problems.
  • SMA (Sunny Island): compatible with both CAN buses.
  • Solis: compatible with both.
  • Growatt (SPF/M series): compatible with both, although the maximum DoD recommended by Growatt is 80%.
  • Deye/Sunsynk: on Pylontech’s official list; Pytes currently undergoing validation.

Important: Neither the Fronius GEN24 nor the Huawei inverters appear on the official compatibility list for either of these brands. These brands use their own high-voltage batteries.

Field experience

I have around 300 Pylontech US5000 units installed since 2018, most of them in Victron set-ups. Their performance is predictable and there have been very few incidents in the field. The BMS communicates seamlessly with the Cerbo GX, and the state of charge (SOC) reported by the battery to the system is reliable.

I’ve clocked up fewer hours with the Pytes V5, but the fact that Victron has officially certified it is a significant technical indicator: it means they’ve validated the communication protocol with their ecosystem, not just that it’s informally compatible.

What concerns me about any new 48V lithium battery is not the electrochemistry but the long-term after-sales support. Pylontech has a well-established service network in Spain. Pytes is gaining ground but has less of a track record.

Which is the best lithium solar battery in 2026?

Choose the Pylontech US5000 if:

  • Do you want the lithium solar battery with the longest track record in Spain and the most established support?.
  • You’re going to be building large benches (4–6 modules): there is more documentation and third-party experience available.
  • You work with multiple brands of inverters and need the widest range of certified compatibility.

Choose the Pytes V5 if:

  • You use Victron products and want the approved LiFePO4 battery with the highest capacity at the same price.
  • Weight matters: 10 kg less per module makes a real difference in installations at height or in vehicles.
  • You need a higher discharge current (100A vs 74A) for high-power inverters.
  • Installation in areas with high temperatures: the Pytes V5 can operate at temperatures of up to 55 °C, compared with 45 °C for the US5000.

Conclusion

At virtually the same price, the Pytes V5 offers better value for money per kWh, higher current output and is lighter. The Pylontech US5000 has the edge in terms of its track record and established support network in Spain. Neither is a bad choice: it depends on what is most important for your installation.
