A. General concepts and benefits of solar energy
What is photovoltaic solar energy and how does it work?
It is the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity. Solar panels generate direct current (DC), which an inverter converts into alternating current (AC) – the type of current used by your electrical appliances. In battery-based systems, a charge controller or the hybrid inverter itself also manages the charging and discharging of the battery.
What does «solar self-consumption» mean?
Generate your own electricity using solar panels and use it directly in your home, business, campervan or boat, reducing your reliance on the electricity grid.
What is the difference between self-consumption with surplus and without surplus?
With surpluses, any energy you do not use is fed back into the grid and the supplier credits it to your bill. No surplus, the inverter limits output so that nothing is fed into the grid (for example, using a Fronius Smart Meter and setting the feed-in limit to 0 W). Both modes are configured on the inverter.
What is the difference between a grid-connected system and an off-grid system?
An installation plugged in (Fronius Primo/Symo, Victron and MultiPlus-II inverters in ESS mode) operates in parallel with the grid. A system isolated It is completely self-contained and requires batteries and an inverter-charger (Victron, MultiPlus, Quattro or EasySolar). You’ll find components for both in our shop.
Is investing in solar energy cost-effective? How long does it take to recoup the investment?
Yes. Given current equipment prices, a properly sized self-consumption system usually pays for itself within 4 to 8 years, depending on consumption, the location and whether you include batteries. From then on, the energy is practically free for the rest of the panels’ useful life (over 25 years).
How much can I save on my electricity bill?
Typically between 50 % and 70 % of the energy portion of the bill, and even more if you shift your consumption to daylight hours or add batteries. Fixed charges (contracted power, meter rental, taxes) are still payable.
What is simplified surplus offsetting?
A mechanism whereby your electricity supplier deducts the value of the energy you have fed into the grid from your monthly bill, until the energy portion of the bill reaches zero. The price per kWh fed into the grid is set out in your contract and is usually lower than the purchase price.
What is a «virtual battery»?
A service offered by some energy suppliers that «saves» the monetary value of your uncompensated surplus energy to be deducted from future bills. It is not a substitute for a physical battery: it does not provide you with backup power during power cuts, nor does it allow you to use the energy generated during the day at night. For that, you need real batteries (Pylontech, Pytes, ZYC or Victron).
Is Spain a good place for solar energy?
It is one of the countries in Europe with the most hours of sunshine. In the south-east of the peninsula (Murcia, Alicante, Almería), more than 1,700 kWh per year are generated per kWp of south-facing installed capacity.
B. Technical components of the installation
What components make up a solar photovoltaic system?
Solar panels, an inverter (or inverter-charger), a mounting structure, solar cabling, protective devices (fuses, DC/AC circuit breakers, surge protectors) and, optionally, batteries and monitoring systems. What types of solar panels are there, and which ones do you recommend?
Current monocrystalline panels (PERC, TOPCon / N-Type) offer the best efficiency and performance at high temperatures. We work exclusively with monocrystalline panels from leading manufacturers; the specific efficiency figures and warranties are set out in each product specification sheet.
How efficient are the panels you sell?
Generally above 21–22 %, which allows for greater power in a smaller footprint. Please refer to the technical specifications for each model.
How big are solar panels?
A standard 400–500 W residential solar panel measures approximately 1.7–2.0 m high by 1.1 m wide. For campervans and boats, we stock smaller 12 V and 24 V panels.
What is a solar inverter and what is it used for?
It is the «brain» of the system: it converts the direct current from the panels into alternating current, manages power output and provides monitoring data (Fronius Solar.web, Victron VRM).
What types of investors are there, and when is each one used?
- Grid-connected (string) inverters: Fronius Primo (single-phase) and Symo (three-phase) for self-consumption without batteries.
- Hybrid inverters: Fronius Primo, GEN24 / Symo and GEN24 Plus, grid-connected and with high-voltage battery management.
- Inverter-chargers: Victron, MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro and EasySolar for stand-alone, backup and ESS applications.

Which brands of inverters do you sell?
We specialise in Fronius (official technical service, Fronius System Partner) and Victron Energy (authorised installer for the entire range). We also stock other specific brands; please see the catalogue.
What is a hybrid inverter? When do I need one?
It is a grid-connected inverter that also manages battery charging and discharging. You need one if you want to store surplus energy or have a backup in the event of power cuts. From Fronius, the GEN24 Plus range; from the Victron range, a MultiPlus-II configured in ESS mode with an MPPT controller.
Do I need to fit batteries? Are they compulsory?
Only in off-grid installations. In grid-connected self-consumption systems, they are optional, although they are becoming increasingly cost-effective for making the most of energy at night and providing a backup.
What types of solar batteries are there?
Lithium LiFePO4 (long service life, 90 % cutting depth, maintenance-free): Pylontech, Pytes, ZYC, SIMPO and Victron. Lead-acid (AGM, GEL, OPzS/OPzV): cheaper initially, but with a shorter service life and lower depth of discharge; we continue to offer them for motorhomes, marine applications and small systems. See batteries.
What battery capacity do I need (kWh)?
It depends on night-time consumption, the desired battery life and your budget. As a guide, an average home requires between 5 and 10 kWh of usable energy; in an off-grid situation, this equates to 2–3 days’ battery life. Which brands of batteries do you stock?
Low-voltage batteries (48 V): Pylontech (US2000C, US3000C, US5000, UP5000), Pytes (E-Box 48100R, V5) and ZYC (SIMPO 5000 / 5000i). High-voltage batteries for Fronius GEN24, BYD and Battery-Box HVS/HVM inverters and other compatible models. Victron Smart 12/24 V lithium batteries for motorhomes and boats. Do the Pylontech batteries come with cables for connecting to the inverter?
No. The Pylontech batteries come with power and communication cables between batteries, but the power cable to the inverter and the specific communication cable (for example, the VE.Can/CAN-bus type A cable for the Victron) must be purchased separately. You can find them at battery accessories.
Can Pylontech batteries of different models be mixed?
Yes, Pylontech supports mixing US2000C, US3000C and US5000 units on the same rack. We recommend setting the unit with the latest firmware as the master and following the cabling instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Can Pylontech batteries be installed vertically?
The manufacturer recommends horizontal installation (in a rack or using the supplied brackets). It may be installed vertically provided that the connections and buttons are not facing downwards.
Can I use Pylontech, Pytes or ZYC batteries with my Fronius inverter?
Not directly: Fronius GEN24 inverters are designed to work with high-voltage batteries (BYD HVS/HVM, LG, amongst others on their compatibility list). The Pylontech, Pytes and ZYC are 48 V batteries designed for Victron inverter-chargers and other low-voltage hybrid systems. If you have a Fronius unit without a battery and wish to add storage, the most common solution is a Victron system in «AC coupling» mode, or our EXCEDIA surplus energy manager to divert surplus energy to loads.
Are lithium batteries safe?
Yes. The LiFePO4 batteries we sell comply with European regulations and feature a built-in BMS that monitors the voltage, current and temperature of each cell. LiFePO4 chemistry is the most stable of all lithium battery types.
What is the lifespan of solar panels?
Over 30 years. Manufacturers guarantee a linear performance over 25–30 years (at least 84–87 % of the initial power at the end of the period).
What is the service life of the inverter?
Between 10 and 15 years. Fronius offers a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, which can be extended free of charge to 5 years by registering the equipment on Solar.web (and up to 10–20 years with a paid extension). Victron offers a 5-year warranty on most of its equipment.
What is the service life of batteries?
LiFePO4 lithium batteries (Pylontech, Pytes, ZYC) are guaranteed for 6,000 cycles or 10 years, which, in everyday domestic use, is equivalent to 15 years or more. Lead-acid batteries last between 3 and 8 years, depending on the technology and usage.
What types of mounting structures do you sell?
Aluminium structures for roof tile, sheet metal/sandwich panel and ground, complete with all accessories. See the structure category.
What are power optimisers? When are they needed?
Devices that are installed on each panel to ensure that shadows or different orientations do not adversely affect the rest of the string. They are useful in cases of partial shading or complex roof structures; on unobstructed, well-oriented roofs, they do not provide any noticeable improvement.
Do you stock inverters for two-phase systems?
We work with single-phase and three-phase equipment. For two-phase networks (120/240 V), please contact us before purchasing.
I want to switch from lead-acid batteries to lithium batteries – is that possible?
In many cases, yes, provided that your inverter or controller supports a lithium charge profile or communication with the BMS. Please send us the exact model of the inverter/controller and photos of the installation via Technical support and we’ll confirm compatibility.
How can I monitor my installation? Is there an app?
Yes. Fronius includes free monitoring in Fronius Solar.web (website and app). Victron includes it in VRM Portal via a GX (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX) and on VictronConnect via Bluetooth. See monitoring.
Which charge controller do I need?
It depends on the voltage of the battery bank, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) of the panels connected in series, and the charging current. Use our MPPT calculator to choose the right SmartSolar.
C. Installation, sizing and advice
Does FV Componentes carry out installations?
No. FV Componentes is an online shop selling photovoltaic equipment. If, as well as the equipment, you need set-up, registration or administration of grants, our sister company ICIDE Solar Energy takes care of it.
I’m interested in a solar installation – how do I get started?
If you already know what you need, buy directly from the shop. If you need help choosing the right size or comparing options, open a ticket at Sales Management stating your consumption, location and type of installation (self-consumption, off-grid, campervan, marine). For a full project and installation, please contact ICIDE.
Do you provide quotes?
We provide quotes for customers who need advice and to weigh up their options. If you already know the product codes, the price shown on the website is the final price: simply add the item to your basket and the delivery charge will be calculated automatically.
What information do you need to advise me?
Annual consumption (bills) or a list of loads and hours of use, location, roof type and orientation, whether the system is grid-connected or off-grid, and whether you want batteries. The more detail you provide, the more accurate the sizing will be.
How do I work out how many panels I need?
As a rule of thumb in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula, 1 kWp produces around 1,600–1,700 kWh per year. Divide your annual consumption by that figure to estimate the power output, and adjust it according to the percentage of your own consumption you wish to cover. We’ll help you fine-tune it.
What permits and formalities are required for a self-consumption installation?
In general: prior notification or a local authority licence, a technical report or project proposal, an electrical installation certificate (CIE) issued by an authorised installer, registration with the autonomous community’s industry authority and, if there is any surplus electricity fed into the grid, a net metering agreement with the electricity supplier. FV Componentes does not handle administrative procedures; ICIDE Yes.
Can I fit the items I buy myself?
Yes, many customers do this (camper vans, boats, country houses). Please bear in mind that a grid-connected self-consumption installation must be approved by a qualified installer. We offer free technical support and a Victron resource centre with diagrams and configurations.
Do you supply pre-configured computers?
We can pre-configure Victron (MultiPlus, MPPT, Cerbo GX) units for your battery type if you let us know when placing your order. Please request this via Technical support stating the order number.
D. Prices, payments, delivery and invoicing
Do you offer discounts for fitters and tradespeople?
Yes. Register as a professional at Professional registration and, once validated, you’ll see special prices on the website. For bulk orders, please open a ticket at Sales Management.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer (Bankinter), credit or debit card (Bankinter’s secure payment gateway), Bizum, PayPal and finance through Cetelem.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, via Banco Cetelem. The option appears at the checkout and is subject to the bank’s approval following a review of the documentation.
My card won’t let me pay – what should I do?
For high-value purchases, it is common for the card to have a daily limit. Choose bank transfer: once you have completed your order, you will see the account details, and we will also send them to you by email. If you attach the receipt to a Administration, we speed up delivery.
How much does delivery cost?
The cost is calculated automatically in the shopping basket based on the destination and product type. Batteries and Victron panels are subject to a fixed rate due to their logistical requirements (ADR) and are not eligible for free delivery; mixed orders (standard product + battery/panel) are subject to the mixed order rate. Collection from our warehouse in Cartagena is free of charge.
Where do you deliver to?
Mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands (including DUA processing; IGIC payable by the recipient), Portugal, France, Italy, Germany and Austria. Victron batteries and panels are not dispatched to the Canary Islands.
How long does delivery take?
For items in stock: 2–4 working days for preparation plus 2–4 working days for delivery. Items available to order may take an additional 1 to 3 weeks; this is indicated on the product page. Main carriers: Correos and DHL.
Do the prices include VAT?
For mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, yes. For private individuals in other EU countries, the price includes VAT at the destination country’s rate (OSS scheme). For EU companies with a valid intra-Community VAT number (ROI), no VAT is charged. Canary Islands: no Spanish VAT (IGIC charged at destination).
Will I receive an invoice?
Yes, the invoice is sent by email once the order has been completed. If you need it with different tax details, please open a ticket at Administration.
Can I collect my order from your premises?
Yes, free of charge, at 5 Calle Bratislava, P.I. Cabezo Beaza, 30353 Cartagena (Murcia), Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00. Select «Collect in-store» at checkout and wait for our confirmation that your order is ready.
Do you sell complete solar kits?

E. Guarantees, returns and support
What is the warranty on the products?
If you are buying as a consumer, you are entitled to a 3-year statutory warranty from the date of delivery (1 year for second-hand products). In addition to this guarantee, the manufacturer’s commercial warranty applies: Fronius offers 2 years, extendable to 5 years free of charge by registering the inverter on Solar.web; Victron offers 5 years (3 years for lithium batteries, 2 years for lead-acid batteries); Pylontech, Pytes and ZYC: 10 years or 6,000 cycles for their lithium batteries. For trade customers, only the manufacturer’s warranty applies. Full details at Terms and Conditions.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Open a ticket at Technical support (Faults – Warranties) including the order number, model, serial number, description of the fault and photos or a video. We diagnose the fault and handle the warranty claim with the manufacturer. As an authorised Fronius service centre, we deal with Fronius equipment directly.
What happens if the equipment isn't faulty?
If the manufacturer determines that there is no lack of conformity or that the fault is excluded from the warranty (incorrect installation or configuration, absence of the required BMS/protections, external damage), the customer shall bear the cost of transport and the inspection fee: €25 (equipment < 300 €), 35 € (300-1.000 €) o 65 € (> €1,000), including VAT. We always let you know this before we start the process.
Can I return a product?
As a consumer, you have 14 calendar days from receipt to cancel the purchase without giving a reason, provided the product is unused and in its original packaging. Use the withdrawal form. You are responsible for the return postage costs, and the refund will be issued via the same payment method within a maximum of 14 days. 110–120 V equipment ordered on request is excluded.
The parcel has arrived damaged – what should I do?
Check the packaging before signing. If there are any dents or signs of tampering, note this on the carrier’s delivery note and write to us at comercial@fvcomponentes.com within the first 24 hours, including photos of the packaging and the product. With this documentation, we will take full responsibility for the collection and return of batteries and panels.
Do you offer technical support?
Yes, technical support free for equipment purchased from fvcomponentes.com via support tickets. Please have the model, serial number, solar array configuration and battery details to hand. For telephone enquiries: (+34) 968 978 301, Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00.
What maintenance does a photovoltaic system require?
Very little: cleaning the panels 1–2 times a year (using water and a soft brush, without high pressure, at times when there is little sunlight), an annual visual inspection of the structure, wiring and protective coverings, and monitoring of output via Solar.web or VRM. Lithium batteries are maintenance-free.
How are OPzS batteries maintained?
Check and top up the electrolyte level with distilled water, check the specific gravity and voltage per cell, and carry out periodic equalisation in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. This is the main reason why we recommend lithium for new installations.
How do I extend the warranty on my Fronius inverter?
Register the investor with Fronius Solar.web within 30 months of purchase: the 2-year manufacturer’s warranty is extended to 5 years at no extra cost. You can extend it for further years by purchasing Fronius Warranty Plus.
How do I register the warranty for my Pylontech batteries?
Pylontech allows you to register the batteries on its website to activate the full warranty. Make a note of the serial number of each module and keep your proof of purchase.
What happens if there’s a power cut? Will my system still work?
A standard grid-tied inverter (Fronius Primo/Symo) shuts down for safety reasons during a power cut. The Fronius GEN24 Plus models provide the output PV Point (up to 3 kW without a battery) and Full Backup with battery and switch box. A Victron MultiPlus-II system with batteries provides full backup with automatic switching within milliseconds.
Does extreme heat affect the performance of the panels?
Yes: they lose around 0.3 % of power for every degree above 25 °C in cell temperature. It is normal for a 450 W panel to deliver 380–400 W on a summer’s afternoon. TOPCon panels have a better thermal coefficient.
What happens if a panel breaks? Does the whole system stop working?
Only that string is affected; the rest continue to operate. Please contact support to have it replaced with one with compatible electrical specifications (similar Voc, Isc and Vmp).
I’ve lost my Solar.web or VRM passwords – can you help me?
We do not store customers« passwords. Please use the »Forgotten your password?’ option on the manufacturer’s platform. If we set up the device for you and you are unable to recover your password, please open a support ticket.
F. Specific cases, extensions and other queries
Can I expand my current installation?
In many cases, yes. Please send us Technical support a photo of the inverter label, the number and power rating of the panels, the battery model (if applicable) and what you’re aiming to achieve, and we’ll suggest the most suitable solution.
I have a Fronius without a battery and I want to make the most of the surplus energy – what options are there?
Three options: (1) add a high-voltage battery if the inverter is a GEN24 Plus; (2) a Victron system in «AC coupling» with a MultiPlus-II and 48 V batteries if the inverter is a Primo/Symo; (3) divert surplus energy to loads (water heater, heat pump, swimming pool) using our management system EXCEDIA Based on Cerbo GX. Please contact us.
Is my roof suitable? (orientation, pitch, shade)
The ideal orientation is south; south-east and south-west lose only 5–10 %. East–west is suitable for self-consumption, with a flatter output curve. The optimum tilt in Murcia is around 30–35°. Shading is the most detrimental factor: consider using optimisers or separate strings.
Can I install solar panels in a block of flats?
Yes, through collective self-consumption or an energy community. It is a project managed by ICIDE.
Can I charge my electric car using solar power?
Yes. We have electric vehicle chargers compatible with Fronius (Wattpilot) and Victron (EV Charging Station), which prioritise surplus solar power when charging.
Can I use solar energy to heat water or for heating and cooling?
Yes. With a Fronius Ohmpilot or EXCEDIA, you can divert surplus energy to an electric water heater; air-source heat pumps are one of the loads that make the best use of photovoltaic energy.
Do I need to renew my home insurance?
It is advisable to notify your insurer of the installation so that it is covered under your policy against hail, wind, theft or fire.
Which generator would you recommend for off-grid backup power?
An inverter-type or diesel generator with stable voltage and frequency regulation, with a power rating equal to or greater than that of the inverter-charger. The Victron, MultiPlus and Quattro models can start it automatically from the Cerbo GX based on the charge status.

G. Technical guides, configuration and troubleshooting (Fronius and Victron)
Important information before reporting an error
When you contact Technical support Please have the following to hand: the exact model and serial number of the inverter, the number and specifications of the panels (power, Voc, series/parallel connection), the type and number of batteries, and a screenshot from Solar.web or VRM showing the error.
My Fronius inverter is displaying a status code – what does it mean?
The most common status codes:
- 102-108: Mains voltage or frequency out of range. The inverter switches off for safety reasons and switches back on once the mains supply has stabilised. If this occurs frequently, check the voltage at the connection point and the country/mains standard configured.
- 301 / 302: AC or DC overcurrent. Automatic reset; if the fault persists, check the solar array.
- 307 (LOW PV VOLTAGE): Insufficient DC voltage. This is normal at dawn and dusk; if it occurs in full sunlight, check the strings and fuses.
- 509: No injection for 24 hours. Check that the solar array is connected and not in total shade.
- 522 / 523: DC voltage in a string is too low: wiring, MC4 connector or faulty panel.
- 567: Active power limitation (via Smart Meter or a feed-in setting of 0). This is not a fault.
- 1030: The Datamanager / GEN24 is not communicating with Solar.web: check the Wi-Fi/LAN connection.
If the code is not on this list or appears more than once, please open a ticket quoting the serial number: as the official Fronius technical support service, we can diagnose the issue remotely via Solar.web.
My Fronius inverter won’t start or isn’t producing power – what should I check?
1) DC disconnect switch in the ON position and string fuses. 2) Inverter’s AC circuit breaker tripped. 3) String voltage within the MPPT range (minimum ~80 V for Primo/Symo, ~65 V for GEN24). 4) No status codes displayed on the screen or on Solar.web. If it still isn’t generating power after this, please contact support.
How do I set the grid injection to 0 on a Fronius system?
You will need a Fronius Smart Meter (TS 65A-3, TS 100A-1 or the one built into the GEN24). In the inverter’s web interface: Settings → Energy Manager → Export limit → 0 W. Remember that the Smart Meter must be correctly oriented (arrows pointing towards the grid).
My Victron MultiPlus is displaying an error message or flashing red – what could be the cause?
The most common warnings:
- Low battery: Battery voltage below the cut-off threshold. Charge the battery (using solar power, the mains or a generator) and check the sizing.
- Overload: Power consumption exceeds the inverter’s capacity. Reduce the load; motors and compressors have start-up peaks of 3–5 times their rated power.
- Temperature: Overheating due to insufficient ventilation or a hot environment. Leave some space around the device and avoid direct sunlight.
- VE.Bus error 1 / 3 / 4: problems in parallel or three-phase systems (missing device, not all configured in the same way). Check the RJ45 cables and the configuration using the VE.Bus System Configurator.
- VE.Bus error 11: Network or battery relay not found; this usually indicates a loose AC-in connection.
- #67 BMS connection lost: The Cerbo GX has lost communication with the battery BMS (Pylontech/Pytes/ZYC). Check the Type A CAN cable and the terminator.
You can view the alarm history using VictronConnect (Bluetooth or VE.Bus Smart Dongle) or via VRM.
My MPPT SmartSolar isn’t charging, or is charging very little
Check that the voltage of the solar array is at least 5 V higher than the battery voltage to ensure a successful start-up, that you do not exceed the regulator’s maximum voltage (75/100/150/250 V depending on the model), the polarity of the panels, and that the battery profile in VictronConnect (lithium, AGM, GEL) matches your battery. With Pylontech/Pytes/ZYC batteries in a system with Cerbo GX, enable DVCC so that the BMS can control the charging process.
How do I configure a Victron system with Pylontech, Pytes or ZYC batteries?
Summary: Connect the master battery to the VE.Can/BMS-Can port on the Cerbo GX using the CAN Type A cable; on the GX, enable DVCC (this is enabled automatically upon battery detection); in VEConfigure/VictronConnect, select the lithium profile with a 52 V absorption stage and a 51 V float stage for the MultiPlus and MPPT, and the BMS will automatically adjust the current limits. How do I set up automatic start-up for a generator using a Victron?
From the Cerbo GX: Settings → Generator start/stop → conditions (load status, battery voltage, AC load). The Cerbo relay (or a GX GPIO) triggers the automatic start-up of the generator set. The generator must be connected to the AC-in terminal of the MultiPlus/Quattro with the appropriate protective measures in place.
My generator does not synchronise with the MultiPlus/Quattro
In VEConfigure, enable the «Weak AC» option and disable «UPS function», extend the accepted frequency range (45–65 Hz) and ensure that the generator is an inverter type or has stable regulation. A generator with a voltage or frequency outside this range will be rejected by the inverter.
How do I set up a Fronius GEN24 with a battery?
Connect the high-voltage battery in accordance with its manual (BYD HVS/HVM, LG, etc.), connect the communication cable to the corresponding port on the GEN24 and, from the inverter’s web interface in Technical mode, select the battery manufacturer and model and set the SOC limits. A Smart Meter is required to manage charging and discharging based on consumption.
My batteries «run out» very quickly
In lead-acid batteries, this is usually caused by sulphation resulting from deep discharges or incorrect charging parameters; check the absorption, float and equalisation stages. In lithium batteries, if the SOC drops suddenly, this is usually because the BMS has blocked an unbalanced cell: leave the battery in the absorption phase for several hours to balance it and check communication with the inverter. If the problem persists, open a support ticket with screenshots from VRM/Solar.web.
