The monocrystalline silicon cells in the Victron BlueSolar 345W-24V solar panel are manufactured from ingots (cylindrical blocks of silicon). All four sides of the cylinder are cut, resulting in a significant amount of silicon being wasted, and wafers with rounded edges are produced. Consequently, the wafers have a high degree of purity, which increases the efficiency of each cell. Panels made from this material are usually darker, almost always black in colour.

Monocrystalline solar panels, being more efficient, they are able to produce considerably more energy in less space. For this reason they are a choice to consider in the case of having a small surface area for the installation of the panels. By producing more energy per smaller surface area, greater savings can be achieved than with polycrystalline panels.
