JA Solar is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of photovoltaic modules, with a well-established presence in the European market and warranties backed by its EU subsidiary. Its panels are commonly used in residential and industrial self-consumption installations in Spain.

Which JA Solar panels are available on the market?
The current range focuses on monocrystalline half-cell modules featuring TOPCon technology, with power outputs ranging from 400 to 600 W depending on the format. The 108-cell and 144-cell formats cater for residential and commercial applications respectively.
TOPCon technology offers better performance in low-light conditions and a more favourable temperature coefficient, which is important in Spain: in August, a panel operates at temperatures well above the 25 °C seen in laboratory conditions, and that is where output is lost.

The two guarantees you need to look out for
The product warranty covers manufacturing defects and, in the current range, is usually between 12 and 25 years, depending on the model. The performance guarantee guarantees a minimum power output after 25 or 30 years, normally in excess of 85 %.
A cheaper panel with a 10-year product warranty isn’t actually cheaper: it’s just shorter-lived. In an installation that’s going to be on your roof for two and a half decades, that’s the difference that makes all the difference.

What else does the installation need?
Structure suitable for your roof, UV-resistant solar cable, MC4 connectors, surge protection and the self-consumption inverter sized to accommodate the number of panels per string.
