What is the Dyness DL5.0F used for?

It is Dyness’s most versatile 5 kWh module: its compact 345 mm-wide design fits into a 19″ rack cabinet and can also be wall-mounted or stacked on the floor. It is suitable for three types of installation:

  • Self-consumption with a battery (on-grid): stores the day’s surplus energy for use at night using a 48 V hybrid inverter.
  • Off-grid installations: country houses, industrial buildings or off-grid pumping stations, with a Victron, MultiPlus-II or Quattro inverter/charger.
  • Backup in the event of power cuts: with an inverter fitted with an emergency or backup output.

As it is modular, you can start with one or two batteries and add more as your consumption increases, without having to change the inverter.

Main features

Discharge rate: 5 kW per battery

Each module delivers up to 100 A continuously (5.12 kW) and 110 A peak for 15 seconds, which is sufficient to start several loads at once (air conditioning, oven, pump).

Design without internal modules

The LFP cells are integrated directly into the battery pack, reducing both its volume and weight: 41 kg and 146 mm high.

Self-heating and fire extinguishing (optional)

Dyness offers models with automatic heating for operation between -20 °C and 55 °C, and a fire-extinguishing system that detects and extinguishes a fire within 5 seconds. The standard version operates between 0 °C and 55 °C. Please contact us if you require any of these options.

LiFePO4 chemistry

Lithium iron phosphate is the safest and most stable chemistry for domestic use: it has no memory effect, can withstand thousands of deep discharge cycles and contains no cobalt.

Compatibility with inverters

The DL5.0F is included in Dyness’s official compatibility list for low-voltage batteries (July 2026) and in the official Victron Energy documentation (October 2026). Compatible brands: Victron Energy (MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro, Quattro-II and the 48 V RS range), SMA Sunny Island, Ingeteam, Deye, GoodWe, Solis, Growatt, Afore, APsystems, Luxpower and others.

And what about Fronius? The Fronius Symo/Primo and GEN24 models only work with high-voltage batteries, so they do not support the DL5.0F directly. If you already have a Fronius inverter, the solution is a Victron system with AC coupling: the DL5.0F connects to the MultiPlus-II and the Fronius continues to operate as normal.

How to set up the Dyness DL5.0F with Victron

  1. You will need a GX device (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX or a MultiPlus-II GX) with Venus OS firmware v3.31 or later. MultiPlus/Quattro with firmware 469 or later; RS range 1.16 or later.
  2. Use the cable VE.Can to CAN-bus BMS Type A (ref. Victron ASS030710018): the “CAN-bus BMS” end connects to the CAN IN port on the master battery and the “VE.Can” end to the BMS-CAN port on the GX, with an RJ45 terminator. A standard network cable or a Type B cable will not work.
  3. On the master unit, DIP switch 4 is set to OFF (500 kbit/s). On the slave units, all DIP switches are set to OFF.
  4. In the GX: Settings → Services → BMS-Can port → profile CAN-bus BMS (500 kbit/s). The battery will appear as “DYNESS-L Battery”.
  5. Active DVCC manually (Venus OS does not do this automatically with Dyness) and leave SVS, STS and SCS disabled. The BMS sends the charge voltage (CVL 56.5 V) and the current limits.
  6. In the ESS wizard, select “System uses LiFePO4 with another type of BMS”.

Victron recommends that you do not mix batteries of different models or new and used batteries in the same bank.

How many DL5.0F batteries do I need?

As a rule of thumb, work out your night-time consumption and divide it by 4.86 kWh of usable power. Furthermore, the battery bank must be able to supply the current required by the inverter at its peak:

  • 3 kVA inverter (e.g. MultiPlus-II 48/3000): at least 1 battery; 2 are recommended if there are start-up peaks.
  • 5 kVA inverter (e.g. MultiPlus-II 48/5000): we recommend at least 2 batteries (200 A discharge).
  • 8–10 kVA inverter (e.g. Quattro 48/8000 or 48/10000): we recommend at least 3–4 batteries.

This is a recommendation from FV Componentes based on the current of each module; if you tell us about your installation, we’ll calculate the correct size for your array free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Dyness DL5.0F

What is the difference between the Dyness DL5.0F and the DL5.0C?

Both have a capacity of 5.12 kWh and a voltage of 51.2 V. The DL5.0F is the compact version: it weighs 41 kg (compared to 54 kg for the DL5.0C), measures 345 × 548 × 146 mm, fits into a standard 19″ rack and has a cycle life of 8,000 cycles (the DL5.0C is rated at 6,000).

Is the Dyness DL5.0F compatible with Victron?

Yes. Victron includes it in its official list of compatible Dyness batteries. It connects to the GX via BMS-Can at 500 kbit/s using the Type A cable and is compatible with all 48 V MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro and RS models.

Can it be installed outdoors?

No. It has an IP20 rating, so it must be used indoors or inside a cabinet. For outdoor use, Dyness’s alternatives are the PowerBox G2 or the PowerBrick Plus (IP65).

How much useful energy does it have?

Around 4.86 kWh per module, with a depth of discharge of 95 %.

How many batteries can I connect in parallel?

Up to 50, i.e. 256 kWh. If there are 12 or more batteries, a Dyness CAN terminator must be fitted to the last one.

What is the guarantee?

10-year manufacturer’s warranty. FV Componentes handles the warranty and provides technical support in Spanish.

Can I expand later?

Yes, it’s modular. Bear in mind that Victron recommends not mixing new batteries with batteries that have been in use for years within the same bank, so it’s best to get the sizing right from the start or expand the system soon afterwards.
