Huawei FusionSolar is one of the world’s most widely used self-consumption platforms: hybrid inverters, panel-level optimisers and LUNA2000 batteries. Here you will find the range available in Spain, along with technical advice on sizing and compatibility.
Huawei SUN2000 inverters
The SUN2000 range covers everything from single-phase residential systems of 2 to 10 kW to three-phase commercial and industrial systems of 40 kW and above. All feature multiple MPPT tracking, which allows for the management of rooftops with varying orientations or partial shading without compromising output from the rest of the array.
The hybrid version incorporates battery management, so you can install the inverter now and add storage later without having to replace anything.
LUNA2000 batteries
The LUNA2000 high-voltage batteries They are the natural complement to the Huawei inverter. Modular, ranging from 5 to 21 kWh, with pack-level optimisation: each module operates independently, so the degradation of one does not affect the rest of the array.
They are installed on the wall or on the floor and can be extended by adding modules, subject to the usual restriction that it is best not to mix modules of vastly different ages.
Panel optimisers
Huawei’s optimisers operate at the individual module level. They are useful in two scenarios: where there is partial shading — from a chimney, a tree or a neighbouring building — where, without optimisers, the affected panel would drag down the performance of the entire string; and when you want to monitor output on a panel-by-panel basis to detect faults.
If your roof is unobstructed and faces in a single direction, optimisers increase the cost without boosting output: in that case, it is better to invest in an inverter with multiple MPPT channels.
What to look out for before buying
Size the inverter according to your actual consumption, not the roof area. A home with an annual consumption of 4,000 kWh can be powered by 3 kWp and a 3–4 kW inverter; installing 6 kW just to feed surplus electricity back into the grid at a knock-down price isn’t worth it unless you’re going to add batteries.
Please also bear in mind that the system is quite tied to the manufacturer’s ecosystem: the battery must be a LUNA2000 or an approved compatible model. If you prefer a more open architecture, take a look at the hybrid inverters from other brands or a combination Fronius with Victron.
