Fuse holders

Fuse holders house and secure the fuse, ensuring electrical contact and insulation. In DC systems, they are not a secondary component: an unsuitable fuse holder overheats, deteriorates and ultimately becomes the weak link in the protection system.

Which fuse holder do I need for each type of fuse?

Each format has its own type, and they are not interchangeable. The cylindrical ones 10×38 String inverters use DIN-rail fuse holders, which are normally isolatable so that the string can be isolated without dismantling anything. The MEGA and MIDI Battery holders use screw-on bases that are fitted next to the positive terminal.

Can I use an AC fuse holder for DC?

No, even if the fuse fits mechanically. The insulation voltage and the distance between contacts are calculated for alternating current, and for direct current at 1,000 V, the required dielectric strength is higher.

Always check that the fuse holder is marked with the value in VDC, not just at VAC. Find the fuses relevant electrical equipment.
