When Fronius Solar.web displays the inverter in grey with the message “offline” or the code 1030, the inverter almost always continues to operate normally: what has been lost is the communication between the Datamanager (Primo/Symo) or the GEN24’s network module and the cloud. This guide covers the common causes and how to re-establish the connection.
Firstly: does the inverter generate power?
Check the display or the status LED. If the inverter is generating power (green LED), the problem is simply a communication issue. If it is switched off or displaying an error code, go to My Fronius isn’t working.
Most common causes
- 1. Changing your router or Wi-Fi password. The number one cause. The inverter retains the old network and cannot authenticate.
- 2. Prolonged power cut. It takes a few minutes for the Datamanager to reconnect; some routers do not assign it an IP address until the inverter has been restarted.
- 3. Weak Wi-Fi signal. An inverter in the garage, with a wall in between, is experiencing intermittent loss of connection. Solar.web will show gaps in the data.
- 4. The router blocks ports. Solar.web requires an Internet connection via port 443 (and 15015 / 49049 on older versions of Datamanager). Corporate networks with firewalls usually block this.
- 5. DNS or DHCP. If the router does not assign an IP address or the DNS does not resolve, the Datamanager cannot connect to the cloud, even if it has a Wi-Fi connection.
Reconnecting a Primo / Symo (Datamanager 2.0)
- 1. On the inverter screen: Settings → Wi-Fi Access Point → Activate. The inverter creates a network called “FRONIUS_240.xxxxx”.
- 2. Connect to that network from your mobile or laptop (password 12345678) and open http://192.168.250.181.
- 3. Go to Settings → Network → Wi-Fi, select your network and enter the password. Save.
- 4. Check under Settings → Solar.web that “Send data to Solar.web” is enabled and that the connection status is “OK”.
- 5. If you are using an Ethernet cable, set the LAN to DHCP and check that the port LED is flashing.

Reconnecting a GEN24 / Tauro
- 1. Tap the access point button (WLAN icon) on the front of the inverter for 1 s: the communication LED flashes blue.
- 2. Connect to the “FRONIUS_” network that appears (password 12345678) or scan the QR code on the label using Solar.start.
- 3. Open http://192.168.250.181, log in as a Customer or Technician and go to Communication → Network → WLAN.
- 4. Select your network, enter the password and save. In Solar.web, you’ll see the inverter marked in green within a few minutes.
If the GEN24’s communication LED is steady red, there is a local network fault (no IP). If it is flashing orange, it is attempting to connect. Green: connected to Solar.web.
Checks on the router
- Check the router’s device list to see if the inverter appears with an IP address. If it does not appear, the Wi-Fi is not authenticated.
- Reserve a static IP address via DHCP for the inverter: this prevents it from changing and makes it easier to access the local interface.
- Disable client isolation (“AP isolation”) on the router if Solar.start cannot find the inverter.
- If you have Wi-Fi repeaters, connect the inverter to the one with the strongest signal; cheap repeaters tend to cut off long sessions.
When is it hardware?
If the inverter cannot activate the access point, the local interface fails to load or the Datamanager’s power LED does not light up, the card may be damaged (this is common following power surges caused by storms). Datamanager 2.0 units are replaced without affecting the power stage; please open a support ticket quoting the serial number.
