Solar kit for powering surveillance cameras in areas without mains electricity in installations comprising 3 or 4 IP cameras with a 4G router or a small DVR: industrial units, estates, farms, car parks or housing estates without a nearby power supply.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with any brand of camera?

Yes. The kit supplies 12 V DC, the voltage at which most IP and analogue cameras, 4G routers and many recorders operate. If your cameras are PoE-enabled, add a PoE switch with a 12 V input or a step-up PoE injector. Avoid powering the cameras via a 230 V inverter and its transformers: this results in a loss of between 15 and 25 % of power and reduces battery life.

How many cameras can I connect?

Up to around 25 W of continuous power consumption: for example, 4 IP cameras at 4 W each, a 4G router and a small PoE switch. If you add an NVR recorder with a hard drive (8–15 W), you can connect 2 or 3 cameras. For more, choose the Pro kit.

Does it work in winter and on cloudy days?

Yes. The kit is designed to cope with December’s sunlight levels in the south-east of the peninsula, and the battery provides around four days’ runtime without sunlight. In the northern half of Spain or in areas with a lot of fog, choose the larger kit or add an extra panel.

How can I view the cameras on my mobile if there’s no internet connection?

With a 4G router with a data SIM card connected to the kit. The router is not included: you can use your own or order one from us along with the kit. It consumes between 3 and 6 W, which is already factored into the recommended power consumption.

What happens if the battery runs flat?

The Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the cameras before the battery becomes over-discharged and reconnects them when the solar panels recharge it. You can adjust the thresholds from your mobile phone. The SuperPack battery also has its own BMS.

Can I expand it at a later date?

Yes. The MPPT 100/30 regulator supports up to around 440 W of panels at 12 V, so you can fit one more panel if you connect it in parallel with its protection circuit. You can also add a second SuperPack battery in parallel.

Do you need any permits or a certificate?

It requires no connection to the mains or paperwork with the electricity supplier: it is a stand-alone, very low-voltage (12 V) system. It is mounted on a post, wall or roof using a mounting frame for the panel and a waterproof box for the battery and the controller.

Does it include installation?

The kit is sold as a kit. If you are in the Region of Murcia or the surrounding area, our installation partner, ICIDE, can install it for you. For the rest of Spain, we’ll assist you by telephone or email before and after your purchase.
