A solar kit for CCTV cameras allows you to monitor a property, a building site, a warehouse or an entrance where there is no electricity supply. The solar panel generates energy during the day, the lithium battery stores it for use at night and on cloudy days, and the controller manages everything so that the cameras and the 4G router operate 24 hours a day without cables or plugs. Our kits use equipment Victron Energy and hand over 12 V DC, suitable for any brand of camera.
Which solar-powered CCTV kit to choose, depending on your cameras
| Kit | Devices it powers | Max. consumption over 24 hours | Plates / battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 1–2 IP cameras + 4G router | 12 W | 190 W / 1.28 kWh lithium |
| Medium | 3–4 IP cameras + a 4G router or a small DVR | 25 W | 380 W / 2.56 kWh lithium |
| Pro | 6–8 IP cameras + NVR recorder + PoE switch + 4G router | 50 W | 690 W / 5.12 kWh lithium |
The three kits are designed for around 4 days’ battery life without sunlight and for winter conditions in the south-east of the peninsula. In the northern half, or if your area experiences a lot of fog, go up a size.
How to work out your cameras’ power consumption
Add up the power of all the appliances that will be switched on and multiply this by 24 hours. These are typical power consumption figures:
- Fixed IP camera: 3 to 6 W (with infrared at night, the higher figure).
- Motorised PTZ camera: 10 to 25 W, or more if it has a heater.
- 4G router: 3 to 6 W.
- PoE switch: 2 to 5 W plus the power consumption of the cameras it powers.
- NVR recorder with hard drive: 6 to 15 W.
Example: 4 x 4 W cameras + 5 W 4G router + 4 W PoE switch = 25 W. Over 24 hours, that’s 600 Wh a day – exactly what the Medium kit covers.
What’s included in each kit
- Victron solar panels monocrystalline.
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller with Bluetooth, so you can check the output and battery status on your mobile.
- Victron SuperPack LiFePO4 lithium battery 12.8 V, with an integrated BMS and thousands of charge cycles.
- Deep discharge protection: charge output from the regulator (Basic) or Smart BatteryProtect (Medium and Pro).
- Fuses, battery disconnect switch, MC4 connectors and solar cable.
They do not include the cameras, the recorder, the 4G router, the waterproof case or the board mounting frame. If you want the complete set, just ask us and we’ll prepare it for you.
Why a 12 V kit and not a 230 V inverter?
Many stand-alone camera installations are set up using an inverter and the cameras’ original transformers. It works, but the inverter alone consumes several watts 24 hours a day, and each transformer loses energy. Powering the cameras directly at 12 V saves between 15 and 25 %, which translates into fewer power supplies, a smaller battery and longer battery life for the same cost.

Frequently asked questions about solar kits for cameras
Can you install a CCTV camera without a power supply?
Yes. With a solar panel, a battery and a charge controller, the camera works day and night without being connected to the mains. To view it on your mobile, you need to add a 4G router with a data SIM card.
What’s the difference compared to a solar-powered camera with a built-in battery?
Solar-powered cameras with built-in batteries only record when they detect movement to save energy, and in winter they often run out of power. A solar kit powers standard IP cameras 24 hours a day, with continuous recording, night vision and the 4G router always connected.
How many solar panels does a CCTV camera need?
An IP camera with a 4G router consumes around 8 to 10 W, which is about 200–250 Wh a day. A 190 W power supply and a 100 Ah battery provide more than enough power even in winter – which is what the Basic kit includes.
How long does the battery last without sunlight?
The three kits are designed to last for around four days when operating at their recommended maximum power consumption. With fewer cameras, the battery life is longer.
Is it suitable for PoE cameras?
Yes. Add a PoE switch with a 12 V input, or a PoE injector that boosts the voltage, connected to the kit’s output. Take its power consumption into account when choosing the size.
Do you carry out the installation?
The kits are sold as ready-to-assemble components. In the Region of Murcia and the surrounding area, our installation company ICIDE You can install it. For the rest of Spain, we’ll advise you both before and after your purchase.
