A solar kit brings together all the components of a photovoltaic system —solar panels, a regulator or inverter, batteries, cabling and protective devices— in a single order —already proportional to one another so that they work first time. At FV Componentes, we prepare complete solar kits with Victron Energy, Fronius, Pylontech, Pytes and ZYC Energy units for four applications: detached house, self-consumption plugged into the mains, camper van, motorhome or boat y surveillance cameras without a power supply. This way, you avoid the most common problem faced by those who buy components separately: a regulator that isn’t powerful enough, an oversized inverter or cables that aren’t the right gauge.
Types of solar kit by application
| Kit | Who is it for? | Core of the kit | Approximate price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Off-grid solar kit | Country houses, farmhouses, industrial units or sheds not connected to the electricity grid | Victron MultiPlus-II charge controller, 48 V lithium batteries and Cerbo GX | Complete kits from around €1,850 |
| Self-consumption solar kit | Homes connected to the grid that want to reduce their electricity bill | Fronius grid-tied inverter and solar panels, 3 to 6 kWp | From around €2,020 |
| Campervan solar kit | Campervans, motorhomes and caravans | Lithium battery, MPPT controller, Orion XS booster and Victron charge inverter | From around €430 |
| Solar kit for sailing boats | Sailing boats and other vessels where the engine is used sparingly | Victron material suitable for use in saline environments and with lithium batteries | From around €570 |
| Solar-powered CCTV kit | Properties, building sites, industrial units or access points without electricity where cameras need to be installed | Victron panels, SmartSolar MPPT controller and SuperPack 12 V lithium battery | From around €820 |
Prices are indicative and include VAT; the exact price of each kit is shown on its product page.
What does a solar panel kit include?
Each kit is tailored to its intended use, but a complete installation usually involves:
- Solar panels: they generate the electricity. The power rating is chosen based on your consumption and the time of year when you need it most.
- MPPT charge controller or hybrid inverter: monitors the battery charge and makes the most of the panels’ output.
- LiFePO4 lithium batteries: they store energy for the night or for cloudy days. In the solar kits with batteries We work with the Victron, Pylontech, Pytes and ZYC Energy models.
- Inverter or inverter-charger: converts direct current to 230 V for your household appliances and, in the Victron and MultiPlus models, also charges the batteries from the mains or a generator.
- Monitoring: With the Cerbo GX and the VRM portal, you can view battery production, consumption and status on your mobile.
- Wiring and protective measures: fuses, cable of the correct cross-section and connectors. These are the things that are always missing when you buy them separately.
How to choose and size a solar kit
A photovoltaic kit It is always sized on the basis of consumption, never on the basis of the space available on the roof. Here are the three steps:
- Work out your daily intake in watt-hours (Wh): add up the power rating of each appliance multiplied by the number of hours you use it each day.
- Choose the battery depending on the number of days without sunshine you wish to cover. For example, a house that consumes 5 kWh a day and requires two days’ autonomy needs around 10 kWh of usable battery capacity.
- Choose the power rating of the solar panels and the inverter: the panels must be able to generate enough electricity to cover your daily consumption during daylight hours in your coldest month, and the inverter must be able to handle the maximum power you are likely to use at any one time (oven, pump, washing machine, etc.).
The most common mistake is to base calculations on summer data. In December, a solar panel generates around a third of what it does in July: if the system is to be used all year round, you need to base your calculations on winter figures or make provision for another backup source, such as a generator. To work out your figures, you can use our solar-powered calculators, for example the solar panel calculator.
Off-grid solar kit or self-consumption kit: differences
A off-grid solar kit It operates off the mains: all the energy you use comes from the solar panels and the batteries, so the battery bank and the charge inverter are the key components. A self-consumption solar kit It operates connected to the grid: the electricity generated by the solar panels is used in the home, and the grid supplies the rest, so batteries are optional. An off-grid installation does not require a connection permit from the distribution network operator; grid-connected self-consumption does require such a permit to be processed. In both cases, the installation must comply with the Low Voltage Electrical Regulations.
Why buy your solar kit from FV Componentes
- Specialists in Victron Energy and Fronius: We work with this equipment every day and know how to combine it.
- Kits put together by technicians: Each kit is designed so that the components fit together; it is not simply a collection of individual products.
- Bespoke kit at no extra cost: if none of these meet your needs, tell us about your situation and we’ll set it up for you.
- Technical support before and after the purchase, with specialist support for Victron.
- Free delivery to mainland Spain on orders of €300 or more.
Frequently asked questions about solar kits
How much does a solar kit for a house cost?
It depends on consumption and the type of installation. A self-consumption kit with a Fronius inverter ranging from 3 to 6 kWp costs approximately between €2,000 and €3,000. A kit for an off-grid home with a Victron or MultiPlus-II inverter and lithium batteries starts at around €1,850 for a 5 kWh battery and increases in price as the storage capacity rises.
What does ‘off-grid solar kit’ mean?
This is a solar power kit designed to operate off-grid. It includes solar panels, batteries and a charge inverter, ensuring the home has a self-sufficient electricity supply, day and night.
Is an off-grid solar installation legal in Spain?
Yes. An off-grid installation does not require a connection permit from the distribution company as it does not feed electricity into the grid, but it must comply with the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations and, depending on its power rating, may require a certificate from an authorised installer.
What sort of solar kit do I need for a campervan or motorhome?
It depends on what you’re going to connect and how many days you want to go without plugging in. The usual setup is a lithium battery of 100 to 300 Ah, an MPPT controller, a Orion XS booster for charging from the alternator, and a charge inverter. In our solar kits for campervans You have combinations that have already been tried and tested.
Do you stock solar kits for CCTV cameras?
Yes. Our solar kits for CCTV cameras They power 12 V IP cameras, a 4G router and a recorder in places without mains electricity, with a battery life of around 4 days without sunlight. There are three sizes: from 1–2 cameras up to 6–8 cameras with a recorder.
Can I upgrade the kit at a later date?
Yes, particularly in kits featuring Victron units and stackable lithium batteries, to which you can add more panels or more battery modules. If you’re planning to expand, it’s a good idea to choose an inverter with a power margin right from the start.
Do the kits include installation?
The kits are sold as components, ready for assembly. If you are in the Region of Murcia and the surrounding area, our installation company ICIDE can take care of the installation.
Would you prefer to put it together piece by piece? Each family is available separately: solar panels, batteries, investors y regulators. And if you have any questions, get in touch with us: We’ll help you choose the right kit, with no obligation.
