BMS for lithium batteries

The BMS (Battery Management System) is the electronic system that protects and manages the cells of a LiFePO4 lithium battery. It monitors each cell's individual voltage, temperature and current in real time and acts autonomously to prevent overcharging, over-discharging and short circuits that would irreversibly damage the cells.

Quality lithium batteries -Victron LiFePO4 NG, Pylontech, Pytes- have the BMS integrated. This category includes external BMS from Victron Energy for batteries requiring external management, and control units for modular battery systems:

BMS VE.Bus NG: the external BMS for Victron LiFePO4 NG batteries. It communicates via VE.Bus with the MultiPlus or Quattro inverter to implement DVCC - the BMS directly controls the charge and discharge limits of the inverter in real time.
SmallBMS NG: compact version for small installations with a single Victron LiFePO4 NG battery. With pre-alarm signal for warning before low voltage cut-off.
Smart BMS CL 12/100 and 12/200: for charge management from alternator or external charger on 12V lithium systems. Controls the charging current to protect the vehicle's alternator.
Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG: High current BMS for installations with Victron Lynx bus. Integrated with the Cerbo GX via VE.Can for complete monitoring of the bank status.
