ANL fuses

The ANL fuse is the high-current fuse for protecting the main line between the battery and the inverter. It is the most important protection component of any solar battery installation: it should be installed as close as possible to the positive terminal of the battery - ideally within 50cm - and is the system's last barrier to a short circuit in the power wiring. Without it, a short circuit in that line would generate a current of several thousand amps capable of starting a fire in a matter of seconds.

At FVComponentes.com we have ANL fuses available. Victron Energy in high current ratings for domestic and professional photovoltaic installations: 300A, 400A and 500A. 48V and 80V voltages - the 80V version is recommended for 48V systems, as it offers greater margin against voltage peaks during charging.

To select the correct rating, the maximum input current of the inverter is taken multiplied by 1.25-1.5. In a system with MultiPlus-II 48/5000 (100A maximum DC current), the ANL fuse of 150-200A is standard. For systems with MultiPlus-II 48/10000 or higher, 300-500A ratings are suitable.

They are installed in ANL fuse holders and are combined with battery cable of suitable cross-section - from 50mm² up to 95mm² depending on the power of the inverter. Doubts about the right gauge for your installation? Our technical equipment calculates it for you.
