The Skylla-IP65 (1+1) has 2 isolated outputs. The second output, limited to approximately 3 A and with a slightly lower output voltage, is intended for recharging a starter battery.
The Skylla-IP65 (3) has 3 isolated outputs. All outputs can supply the full rated output current.
Epoxy powder coated steel enclosure. Withstands the rigours of a harsh environment: heat, humidity and salt air. Circuit boards are protected with an acrylic coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Temperature sensors ensure that power components will always operate within specified limits, if necessary by automatic reduction of output current in extreme environmental conditions.
To monitor the status and easily adapt the charging algorithm to a particular battery and its usage conditions.
For connection to a CAN-bus network, a Skylla-i control panel or the Color Control digital display.
Several chargers can be connected in parallel and synchronised with the help of the CAN-bus interface. This is achieved by simply interconnecting the chargers with cables. UTP RJ45.
When only shallow discharges occur, the absorption time is kept short to avoid overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully recharged.
If a high charging current in combination with a high absorption voltage is required to quickly charge a battery. been chosen, the Skylla-IP65 will prevent damage due to excessive gassing by automatically limiting the rate of voltage rise once the gassing voltage is reached.
The storage mode is activated as long as the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours. In storage mode float voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for 24 V battery) to minimise gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is brought back up to the absorption level to "refresh" the battery. This feature prevents electrolyte stratification and sulphation, a major cause of premature battery failure.
Each Skylla-IP65 comes with a battery temperature sensor. When connected, the charging voltage automatically decreases as the battery temperature increases. This function is especially recommended for sealed lead-acid batteries and/or when significant fluctuations in battery temperature are expected.
To compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, the Skylla-IP65 has a voltage sensor so that the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
As a result of the excellent control circuitry, the Skylla-IP65 can be used as a power supply with perfectly stabilised output voltage if no batteries or large backup capacitors are available.
Simple on/off control of the charger can be implemented by connecting a relay or open collector optocoupler output from a Li-Ion BMS to the charger's remote control port. Alternatively full voltage and current control can be achieved by connecting to the CAN-bus port.
