The Victron Lynx Smart BMS 1000 (M10) - LYN034170210 is a battery management system (BMS) specifically for batteries. Victron Lithium Battery Smart. These are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries available in 12.8 V or 25.6 V and in different capacities. They can be connected in series, parallel and series/parallel, so that a battery bank can be assembled for 12 V, 24 V or 48 V system voltages. The maximum number of batteries in a system is 20, which means a maximum energy storage of 84 kWh in a 12 V system and up to 102 kWh in a 24 V system1) and 48 V system1).
Among the various BMS available, the Lynx Smart BMS is the most comprehensive and feature-rich option and is easily integrated into the Lynx distribution system.
The contactor acts as a secondary safety system to protect the battery in the event that the main controls (the ATC (allow charge) and ATD (allow discharge) contacts and DVCC) do not disable the loads or chargers when required, and is also suitable as the main switch for the remotely controllable system.
In addition to the contactor, an integrated pre-charge circuit prevents high inrush currents when a capacitive load such as a MultiPlus, Quattro or other inverter is connected, eliminating the need for external pre-charging.
You can monitor and control the Victron Lynx Smart BMS - LYN034160200 via Bluetooth with the VictronConnect application or a GX device, such as the Victron Cerbo GX MK2 Monitoring - BPP900451100and the VRM portal. An integrated battery monitor that functions similarly to Victron Energy's other battery monitors provides data such as state of charge, voltage, current, historical data and real-time status information, and with Instant Readout you don't even need to connect to the BMS, allowing you to get diagnostics at a glance.
Compatible Victron inverter/chargers and solar chargers are automatically controlled by a connected GX device and DVCC. ATC (enable charge)/ATD (enable discharge) contacts can be used to control other chargers and loads that have a remote on/off port.
The relay can be used as an alarm relay (together with the pre-alarm) or to control an alternator via its external regulator (ignition cable). When in alternator ATC mode, the relay will only activate when the contactor is closed. The alternator ATC contact of the alternator opens first and then the contactor opens with a two second delay. These two seconds ensure that the alternator is off before the battery is disconnected from the system.
The advantage of the on-board auxiliary power supply (1.1 A at system voltage) is to provide power to specific loads (e.g. a GX device) after the BMS has shut down the loads due to low cell voltage. If no load voltage is detected within 5 minutes, the BMS, including the AUX connection, is shut down.
VE.Can allows easy connection (standard RJ45 network cable) and communication with a GX device. As the CAN-bus protocol is based on NMEA 2000 (and J1939), it is easy to integrate it into a nautical network and transmit information to the nautical multifunction display (a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 male micro C cable is required).
Reads fuse status and receives an alarm if the fuse is blown. The Lynx Smart BMS monitors up to four connected Lynx distributors and their fuses via VictronConnect or a GX device.
This distribution system consists of the following elements:
