The Victron Smart Battery Protect 12/24V 220A - BPR122022000 disconnects non-essential loads from the battery before it is fully discharged (which would damage the battery) or before it runs out of charge enough to start the engine. The on/off input can be used as a system on/off switch.
The Smart BatteryProtect detects the system voltage automatically and only once.
When programming the Victron Smart Battery Protect 12/24V 220A - BPR122022000 via Bluetooth, the desired activation/deactivation levels can be defined. Alternatively, the programming pin can be used to define one of the nine activation/deactivation levels (see manual).
In this mode, BatteryProtect can be controlled via the VE.Bus BMS.
Note: BatteryProtect can also be used as a charging switch between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See the connection diagram in the manual.
This is important in the case of Li-Ion batteries, especially after a low voltage disconnection.
To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is switched off when the DC voltage exceeds 16.3V or 32.6V respectively.
Without relays but with MOSFET switches, therefore no sparks.
The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset cut-off level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, starting the engine will not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit proof open collector output on the negative (minus) rail, maximum current 50 mA. The alarm output is normally used to activate a buzzer, LED or relay.
