The Victron Phoenix 48/1200 VE Direct Inverter NEMA 5-15R 120V will remain in stand-by when the wattage of its output drops below the configured value. Once in stand-by, the inverter will activate briefly (adjustable; default: every 2.5 seconds). In the event that the load exceeds the preset level, the inverter will remain on.
High additional peak starting power
One of the features of SinusMax technology is its very high starting power. Phoenix inverters are suitable for powering difficult loads, such as motors or power tools with a high starting peak.
Remote on/off switch
On this model of solar inverter, you can connect a remote On/Off switch and run the two wires to the inverter to remotely turn the inverter on and off. This option is very useful for customers with a caravan or a boat or sailboat.

Installation of Victron Phoenix 48/1200 VE 120V Inverter
Location of the inverter
Leave a minimum of 10 cm of space around for proper ventilation.
Environmental conditions:
Do not expose to water, moisture or condensation.
Do not place in locations where there is a risk of gas or dust explosion.
Operating temperature: -20 °C to 40 °C (humidity <95%, non-condensing).
Avoid direct sunlight.
Assembly requirements:
Horizontal base on a flat surface.
Vertical wall mounting with fan downwards.
Avoid mounting on the ceiling or with the fan facing upwards (dust or particles may accumulate).
Battery connection
Batteries of sufficient capacity and cables of adequate cross-section must be used for proper operation.
Recommended cables: Between 1.5 and 3 metres. The cable cross-section should be increased to reduce the voltage drop.
Fuse protection:
All models include internal fuse, some are replaceable.
If the cable used is longer than 1.5m, it is recommended to install an additional fuse near the battery.
If connected with reversed polarity, it may blow the fuse and damage the inverter.
Connection to the load (AC output)
Do not connect directly to a mains power supply or generator.
The AC output is protected against short circuits and overloads.
The installation must be carried out with cables of the appropriate cross-section for the power of the inverter.
Grounding
The AC output is isolated from the DC input and the chassis.
In some countries, regulations may require the output neutral to be connected to the chassis and the chassis to a reliable earth ground.
Remote on/off
An external switch can be connected to a two-pole connector.
It can also be connected to the vehicle's ignition switch for automatic activation.
The front switch must be in the ON or ECO position for the inverter to operate.
Configuration and Monitoring of the Victron Phoenix 48/1200 Inverter
The inverter comes pre-configured with factory settings but can be customised via PC or mobile devices.
Configurable options
Output voltage: 210V - 245V.
Output frequency: 50Hz or 60Hz.
Low battery alarm: Activation and recovery level.
Low voltage cut-off: "Dynamic cut-off" can be set or activated.
ECO mode:
Reduces consumption while the inverter is idle.
Activates the inverter only if it detects a predefined (adjustable) minimum load.
Automatic restart time after a failure.
Connectivity and monitoring
The inverter has a VE.Direct port for communication with other devices.
Connection methods:
To connect the Phoenix inverter to the PC: Via the VE.Direct to USB cable.
Smartphones and tablets (iOS/Android): Requires VE.Direct to Bluetooth Smart module.
Inverter data that can be monitored:
Battery voltage.
AC output voltage.
Charging indicator.
Alerts and alarms.
Troubleshooting
LED status indicators
The Phoenix inverter has an LED diagnostic system that indicates the operating status and possible errors.
LED Green (Normal status)
Fixed ignition: The Phoenix inverter is working properly.
Slow flashing: ECO mode activated, the inverter is waiting for a minimum load.
Red LED (Errors and alarms)
Protections and automatic restart
This Victron Phoenix 48/1200 inverter is designed to protect itself and restart automatically in case of temporary failures.
Over-temperature:
It switches off when the temperature exceeds the set threshold.
It restarts automatically when it cools down.
Low battery:
It switches off if it registers too low a voltage.
Try restarting when the battery recharges.
High DC ripple:
May be due to loose wires or insufficient cross-section.
It restarts after 30 seconds, but if the fault persists, it shuts down permanently.
Overloading:
If the connected load exceeds the limit, the inverter reduces voltage and then shuts down.
Try 3 automatic restarts, otherwise it shuts down for good.
