Features of the Victron MultiPlus II 3000VA 48V 35-32A Inverter

The Victron MultiPlus II Inverter 3000VA 48V 35+32A is an advanced device for our photovoltaic installation. It allows us to have a hybrid system of self-consumption with accumulation and with full guarantees of operation.

MultiPlus II is an inverter with a multi-functional charger that features numerous electrical certifications from a large number of countries that qualify it for use as a grid-connected energy storage system (ESS)..

The MultiPlus II model, formerly known as MultiGrid II, also incorporates anti-islanding protection and Victron PowerControl and PowerAssist functionality.

The Victron MultiPlus II 3000VA 48V 35+32A solar inverter charger is a guarantee of reliability and stability, thanks to the advanced design of its power stage.

The Victron MultiPlus II Inverter 3000VA 48V 35+32A offers up to 3000VA of power output from the inverter itself, but thanks to its PowerAssist function. It can supply more power output by adding energy from the AC input and also from the batteries so as not to overload the external grid input. It works with 48V batteries and has an internal 70A battery charger.

Thanks to its function as a UPS, it is able to offer uninterruptible power output, as the switching is very fast so that critical consumption is not affected. Like the rest of the MultiPlus family, it is highly expandable thanks to its ability to work in parallel with up to 6 units.

It is also possible to use it on a three-phase network by installing one unit for each phase, to which we can also add parallel operation within the phases themselves.

Operation of the Victron MultiPlus II Inverter 3000VA 48V 35-32A

The MultiPlus II inverter can operate under any common energy storage topology. A current sensor is provided so that the AC input can be limited according to your needs. The transfer and charging power of the MultiPlus II may be too high for the available current.

The most common application of this type of inverter is as follows:

MultiPlus II used as UPS in critical load applications

MultiPlus II used as UPS in critical load applications. In this case the inverter charger can have the usual loads, powered by the conventional grid. Or it can have an energy storage system (battery) that will power critical loads if the grid fails or is unstable.

Consideration shall be given to whether any limitation of the AC input to a safe value is to be applied by means of the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions.

MultiPlus II grid-parallel and PV-powered

Connected to the grid and with photovoltaics via MPPT regulator. In this case the PV inverter will use the information provided by the toroidal current sensor and thus optimise the self-consumption by converting the energy into alternating current and using it directly for consumption.

This allows us to choose whether or not to feed surplus solar production into the electricity grid. The batteries are recharged by the solar panels and the consumption can be divided between the critics:

  • Always powered even with power cuts
  • The normal ones, (which can be powered by the energy produced by the panels)

Monitoring the Victron MultiPlus II 3000VA 48V 35-32A Inverter

In order to have maximum control of the operation of the solar installation, it is highly recommended to include the Victron ColorControl Panel, as from it we can configure, load the operating parameters and supervise the performance of the entire system.

All components will be displayed on the monitoring screen and detailed information on production, consumption, storage, etc. will be available.

VRM Chart

Thanks to the inclusion of the Victron ColorControl Panel, we will have access to the VRM portal provided by the brand where we will have access to the monitoring and configuration of the system from any terminal with internet access. The VRM portal will even give us the option of sending us alarms depending on what we program in the operation of the system.

Victron MultiPlus II 3000VA 48V 35-32A Inverter Compatibility

The MultiPlus II can work with virtually any 48V battery on the market without any problem. Its great flexibility and adaptability allows it to be configured to charge a lead-acid battery of any technology, whether sealed or open OPzS type.

Victron regularly updates its software to ensure compatibility with the vast majority of brands of lithium batteries on the market. This is a guarantee for the future.

If an external charge regulator topology is used to charge batteries or for direct self-consumption, it is advisable to use an MPPT model of the Victron brand. In this way, the ColorControl panel will show the photovoltaic production of the system in detail.

If a photovoltaic inverter is used as a solar generator, it is advisable to use a product from FroniusThe product is also compatible with other well-known brands in the industry, such as Kostal.

In the ColorControl and the VRM portal we can also monitor the production of the PV inverter without any problem. There is also compatibility with other manufacturers such as Schneider; you can consult the compatibility table on the Victron website, which is updated regularly.
