Cylindrical fuses
Photovoltaic cylindrical fuses are special fuses for direct current up to 1,000VDC, designed for the individual protection of solar panel strings. In installations with several strings connected in parallel, each string must be protected with its own fuse to avoid that in case of failure in one of them the others discharge return current on it, which could cause a fire in the wiring or in the modules themselves. This requirement is included in IEC 60364-7-712 for installations with more than two strings in parallel.
At FVComponentes.com we have 1,000VDC photovoltaic cylindrical fuses in two formats and multiple brands:
Format 10×38mm (12A to 32A): the standard for protection of residential and commercial panel strings. Brands: Crady, df Electric and Maxge. The module short-circuit current (Isc) multiplied by 1.25 is the minimum rating to use.
Format 22×58mm (40A): for higher power strings or high current modules (Isc greater than 12A). Gave brand.
All the cylindrical fuses in our catalogue are approved for DC photovoltaic use at 1,000V - they are not reused AC fuses, but components certified for the specific characteristics of the direct current generated by solar panels. They are installed in cylindrical fuse holders Are you unsure about the right size for your panels? Our technical equipment tells you.
