VE.Bus BMS V2 V2 Victron - BMS300200200
The new Victron VE.Bus BMS V2 - BMS300200200 is the next step in the VE.Bus Battery Management System (BMS). It is designed to protect and interface with Victron's Smart lithium batteries (LiFePO₄), such as the Victron 12.8V-200Ah Smart LiFePO4 LiFePO4 battery - BAT512120610in systems that have Victron inverters or inverter/chargers that have VE.Bus communication.
Protects each cell of a Victron Smart lithium battery individually
For reliable and safe operation, a LiFePO₄ battery must be monitored and protected against overvoltage and undervoltage of any individual cell, as well as overtemperature or undertemperature conditions. The Victron Smart lithium battery range includes integrated cell voltage monitoring, cell voltage balancing and temperature monitoring.
If the cell voltage or battery temperature is outside the permitted range, this is communicated to the BMS via two BMS cables with M8 circular connectors. In systems with multiple batteries, the BMS cables from each battery are connected in series, with the first and last cables of the group connected to the BMS.
Depending on the status of the Victron Smart lithium battery or batteries, the BMS:
- Generates a pre-alarm signal to warn of an impending cell undervoltage condition.
- Disables the inverter on VE.Bus devices or inverter/chargers via VE.Bus, and disables other loads via the 'Load Disconnect' terminal in case of a cell undervoltage condition.
- Disables charging on VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via VE.Bus, disables VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via a GX device and disables other chargers via the 'Charge Disconnect' terminal in case of a cell overvoltage, undertemperature or overtemperature condition.
Example system with VE.Bus BMS V2, Multiplus and Cerbo GX
Communication with VE.Bus products
MultiPlus, Quattro or Phoenix inverters are connected to the 'MultiPlus/Quattro' port with a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
The BMS disables the inverter in the event of a cell undervoltage condition and disables the load in the event of an overvoltage or cell temperature condition.
VE.Bus BMS V2 Victron - BMS300200200: Communication with remote devices
A GX device (such as the Victron Cerbo GX MK2 Monitoring - BPP900451100), a Digital Multi Control (DMC) panel or a VE.Bus Smart Dongle (including any combination) can be connected to the BMS via the 'Remote panel' port. These accessories can be used in combination with the BMS to remotely control the status of the VE.Bus inverter or the on/off/charging status of the inverter/charger only.
Auxiliary power input and output terminals
The BMS has a dedicated power output terminal (GX-Power) for a GX device and an auxiliary power input terminal (Aux-In) for an external DC power source, such as an AC/DC adapter. In the event of a system shutdown, the GX device will remain powered through the auxiliary power input or will be disconnected to prevent further battery drain.
Remote terminals
These terminals can be used to turn the BMS on or off. When the BMS is off, both outputs will be floating so that the loads and chargers are switched off. There are two remote terminals, 'Remote L' and 'Remote H'. A remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected between L and H to switch the BMS on or off. Alternatively, the H terminal can be connected to the positive battery, or the L terminal can be connected to the negative battery.
Victron VE.Bus BMS V2 V2 LED Indicators - BMS300200200
The BMS has the following LED indicators:
- Status (blue): Lights up briefly every 10 seconds to indicate normal operation.
- Cell temp or cell voltage >4V (red)Lights when the load disconnect output is low due to overvoltage or overtemperature of the cell.
- Cell voltage >2.8 V (blue)Lights when the load disconnect output is high and the battery cell voltages are above 2.8V.
