As with Argodiode bridges, Argofet bridges such as the Victron Argofet 200-2 Battery Separator allow two or more batteries to be charged simultaneously from a single alternator (or from a single charger) without connecting the batteries together; for example, discharging the service battery does not discharge the starter battery, and vice versa.
Compared to diode bridges, FET bridges have the advantage of virtually zero voltage loss: The voltage drop is less than 0.02 V at low currents and averages 0.1 V at higher currents.
When using Argofet diode bridges, it is not necessary to increase the output voltage of the alternator as well. However, it is strongly recommended that the cables are short and of a suitable cross-section.
Example:
When a current of 100 A flows through a cable of 50 mm2 cross-section (AWG 0) and 10 m length (30 ft), the voltage drop in the cable will be 0.26 volts. Similarly, a current of 50 A through a cable of 10 mm2 cross-section (AWG 7) and 5 m length (15 ft) will result in a voltage drop of 0.35 volts.
Some alternators require a DC voltage at the B+ output to start charging. Obviously, DC will be present when the alternator is connected directly to the battery. However, if a diode bridge or FET separator is inserted, any voltage/current return from the batteries to the B+ output will be prevented, and the alternator will not be activated.
The new Argofet diode bridges have a special energised input with current limiter that will feed the B+ output when the motor start/stop switch is closed.

At FVComponents.com we have stock of the references with the highest turnover, however our catalogue is so wide and economical because we work with many of the references on request. This means that the usual delivery time of 2-4 working days can be extended to 1-2 weeks + subsequent shipment by us. Thanks to this, we can offer very competitive and attractive prices to our customers that are difficult to match. If you wish, you can write to us via the chat on the website, call us at 968 97 83 01 or write to us at [email protected] to check if we have stock or the delivery time of the component you wish to purchase before finalising your order.
