Product information

Protect your LiFePO4 batteries with the Victron Cyrix-Li-ct 12/24V-230A combiner - CYR010230412: prevents undervoltage, overvoltage and overtemperature of the cells.

The Victron Cyrix-Li-ct 12/24V-230A combiner will connect in parallel a lead acid starter battery with a LiFePO4 lithium battery, protecting the lithium battery against overvoltage or overtemperature.

1. Cell Equilibrium: Optimisation and Uniform Performance The first line of defence is cell balancing, an essential feature in all Victron LiFePO4 batteries. This system ensures that all cells work in harmony, which not only optimises battery capacity, but also prevents potential problems such as overcharging or over-discharging.

2. Advanced Safeguards: Agile Response to Risks The second layer of protection is designed to respond effectively to critical situations:

  • If there is an imminent threat of undervoltage in the switchgear, the system automatically disconnects the loads.
  • In the event of overvoltage, high temperature (>50°C) or low temperature (<0°C), the system takes action by disconnecting or reducing the load current. At the heart of this line of protection is the VE.Bus BMS, which constantly monitors conditions to keep your cells safe.

Despite the effective functionality of the VE.Bus BMS, not all loads or chargers can be directly controlled by this system. This is where Cyrix switches come into play, which can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS to shut down specific loads or chargers if necessary.

Features of the Victron Cyrix-Li-ct 12/24V-230A combiner

The Cyrix-Li-ct is a crucial addition to this protection network. Similar to its Cyrix-ct counterpart, the Cyrix-Li-ct performs an essential parallel function. It connects in parallel a lead-acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 battery under the following conditions:

  • High disconnection of the charger from the VE.Bus BMS.
  • Detection of a voltage of 13,4 V (or 26,8 V) or higher at one of its connection terminals.

This device is programmed to switch off immediately in the event of:

  • Floating mode control output, indicating overvoltage or overtemperature of the switchgear.
  • Battery voltage falling below the 13,2 V threshold.

The Cyrix-Li-ct also includes an LED status indicator that gives you quick, visual feedback on its operation:

  • LED on: indicates that the device is activated.
  • LED flashes for 10 seconds: signals that the device is deactivated.
  • LED flashes for 2 seconds: shows that the device is in the process of connecting.
  • LED flashing for 2 seconds: indicates that the device is in the process of switching off.
  • LED flashing for 0.25 seconds: warns of an alarm which could include over-temperature conditions, voltage above 16V, both batteries with voltages below 10V, or one of the batteries with voltage below 2V.

In addition, the Cyrix-Li-ct has a StartAssist function that provides an extra boost to the starter. A short press of the negative will activate the relay for 30 seconds, which can be a great help in difficult starting situations.

Safety is a priority at all times, and the Cyrix-Li-ct incorporates a transient voltage suppressor that limits voltage spikes in the event of sudden shutdown due to cell overvoltage or overtemperature.
