Features of the 24V Charger Victron Phoenix 24/25 (2+1) 120/240V - PCH024025001

4-stage variable loading system: bulk - absorption - float - storage

The Victron Phoenix 24V 24/25 (2+1) 120/240V - PCH024025001 24V charger features a microprocessor controlled "variable" battery management system that can be configured for different battery types. Its "variable" function will automatically optimise the process based on the usage of the battery.

The right amount of load: variable absorption time

When the discharge is low (e.g. a yacht connected to the pontoon mains) the absorption charging phase is shortened to avoid overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption charge time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully recharged.

Preventing damage due to over-gassing: BatterySafe mode (see fig. 2 below)

If, in order to charge a battery quickly, a combination of high charging current and high absorption voltage has been chosen, the Victron Phoenix 24V 24/25 (2+1) 120/240V - PCH024025001 charger will prevent damage from over gassing by automatically limiting the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage has been reached (see the charging curve between 14.4 V and 15.0 V in fig. 2 below).

Reduced ageing and maintenance when the battery is not in use: Storage Mode
(see fig. 1 and 2 below).

The storage mode is activated when the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours. In storage mode, the float voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for 12 V batteries) to reduce gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is brought back up to absorption level to "equalise" the battery. This function prevents electrolyte stratification and sulphation, the main causes of battery failure.

For a longer battery life: temperature compensation

All chargers come with a battery temperature sensor. When connected, the charging voltage will automatically decrease as the battery temperature increases. This function is especially recommended for sealed batteries and/or when large temperature fluctuations are expected in the battery.

Victron Phoenix 24/25 (2+1) 120/240V 24V battery charger voltage sensor - PCH024025001

To compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance, the chargers have a voltage probe function so that the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.

Universal input voltage range: 90-265 VAC and also suitable for DC supply
(AC-DC and DC-DC operation)

The chargers shall accept a 90-400 VDC supply.

Computer interface

All chargers are ready to communicate with a computer via their RS-485 data port. In conjunction with our VEConfigure software and the Victron MK2-USB Link Interface for Phoenix Charger - ASS030130010In addition, all the parameters of the chargers can be customised.

Load curves: up to gassing voltage (fig.1), and exceeding the gassing voltage (fig.2)
