This unit combines the Battery Control Unit (BCU) and the mechanical and electrical connection base, forming the starting point of each HVS+ or HVM+ module tower.

What is BCU+Base and why is it indispensable?

The BCU (Battery Control Unit) is the brain of the BYD Battery Box Premium battery. It is responsible for intelligent energy management, cell balancing, electrical protection and communication with the inverter.
The base provides the physical support structure and the high voltage electrical interconnections between modules.

Without this combination - BCU and base - the HVS+ or HVM+ module tower cannot function. Each battery tower requires a BCU+Base unit, on which the modules are stacked (2 to 6 in the case of HVS+, or 3 to 8 in HVM+).
This set forms the operational core of BYD's high-voltage batteries.

The new HVS+ / HVM+ modules are not compatible with the old ones. They cannot be mixed in the same tower, nor can new towers be placed in parallel with towers of modules from previous versions.

How to size a battery?

The first step is to define the purpose for which you want the battery. Are you looking to save energy and store it during the day for use at night? Do you need a backup system for emergencies such as power outages or prolonged blackouts? Do you want to gain autonomy and greater independence from the utility companies?

Once you are clear about your target, all you have to do is calculate the consumption you would make during the hours of battery use. If you do not have this data, you can always consult your supplier. As a general rule, around 40% of the daily consumption is made when there is no sun.
