Designed from the ground up, the Victron Orion XS 12/12-50A- ORI121217040 Converter revolutionizes adaptive DC-DC charging. For use in dual battery systems charged with an (intelligent) alternator. This device not only ensures world-class performance, but also guarantees system safety.
Stay in control with configurable input and output currents, and rest assured that the Orion XS will operate at full capacity up to 40 °C. Innovative aluminum PCB cooling technology provides an astounding 98 % efficiency without the need for fans.
As an integral part of the Victron system, the Orion XS offers full (remote) monitoring and control functions, providing full command of the device and your system:

Converter Victron Orion XS 12/12-50A- ORI121217040: Configurable loading process
It adjusts the input and output current precisely using simple controls. This helps to protect the alternators from overloading and to charge the auxiliary battery correctly, especially in the case of smart alternators.

The charging current can be adjusted in minimum increments of 0.1 A via VictronConnect

An unlimited number of Orion XS devices can be connected in parallel. It is very easy to scale the output current to fit your system requirements.

With its built-in detection of engine operation, the Orion XS ensures that the charger only draws power when the engine is running. It also helps to obtain adequate charging current from intelligent alternators such as those in Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines.
Adaptive loading algorithm
The Orion XS includes adaptive charging algorithms and eight preconfigured battery modes. For lead-acid batteries, these settings ensure optimal absorption times for both shallow and deep discharges.
Complete electronic protection
The Orion XS comes equipped with extensive electronic protection against overload, short circuits and excessive temperatures. It will automatically reduce the output power when the maximum product temperature is reached.
Low-temperature shutdown and undervoltage protection
To prevent damage to the lithium batteries, the charger will automatically shut down at low temperatures. It will also shut down when the input voltage drops below a user-configurable lockout value and will restart when the input voltage rises above the reset value, thus protecting the input source, i.e. the starter battery, from deep discharges.
Remote on/off
The Orion XS can be turned on and off remotely via the remote on/off connector or the VictronConnect app. The most common applications typically have a wired connection to a switch or Battery Management System (BMS).

Integrated Bluetooth Smart: The wireless solution for changing settings, monitoring activities and updating the Orion XS software with a smartphone, tablet or other Apple or Android device. With the app VictronConnect various parameters can be set.
Instant Readout: The VictronConnect application can display the most important data, including warnings and alarms, on the device list page without the need to connect to the product.
VE.Direct Port
For wired connection to a GX device, such as the Cerbo GX or the Ekrano GX, to a PC or other devices. It enables monitoring, control and advanced diagnostics from anywhere (an Internet-connected GX device and VRM portal are required) or locally via the remote console.
Dust and water protection
The Orion XS is designed to withstand dust and water contamination and is IP65 rated.
