The Ethernet mode will be most advantageous in installations where an Ethernet network is available. Instead of running an RS485 cable between the main AC distribution panel and the storage system, the existing Ethernet can be used. The disadvantage is that this is dependent on the network functioning correctly; in case of problems, the storage system will go into standby mode: passthrough.
EM24, EM3XX, EM5XX and ABB meters use vector recording to account for energy. This is the preferred method in countries such as Germany and Austria, and almost everywhere else. All other meters use the arithmetic register. See question P8 of the Victron energy meter manuals for more information about the differences in energy accounting.
