Details of the Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE 1000 VDC motorised disconnector for emergencies - 10005779

As of March 2025, the Fire Safety Regulations for Industrial Establishments (RSCIEI) requires photovoltaic installations to have disconnection systems. to ensure safety in the event of an emergency.

In order to adapt to this new regulation, Toscano has developed the Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE 1000 VDC motorised disconnector for emergencies - 10005779. An advanced safety system designed to protect your photovoltaic installation and facilitate the intervention of firefighters and maintenance personnel.

Automatic shutdown in an emergency

One of the key points of the Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE 1000 VDC - 10005779 is its fully automatic operation. The device is able to interrupt the direct current flow from the solar panels to the inverter in three critical situations: mains failure, temperature detected by the internal sensor is higher than 80 °C or manual activation by means of an emergency mushroom. This means that in case of fire, overheating of the string of panels or grid failure, the device acts immediately, protecting people and preventing damage to the equipment.

Automatic or manual reconnection

Once the emergency has been overcome, the system returns to normal automatically when the grid is restored, recovering the connection between the panels and the inverter without the need for intervention. If the disconnection was carried out manually, the design of the equipment also allows for manual reset by deactivating the mushroom, ensuring that the start-up is carried out under supervision and in a safe manner.

Design for firefighters and maintenance

The COMBI-PRO-FIRE is specially designed to facilitate rapid intervention by emergency and fire-fighting services. It includes an internal temperature sensor and a status contact that allows the status of the disconnector to be communicated to external control devices. In addition, it incorporates a magneto-disconnector with 10 kA breaking capacity, capable of withstanding high short-circuit currents and ensuring safe isolation. Its robust design uses direct screw connections without MC4 connectors, reducing hot spots and ensuring a reliable long-term connection.

Versatility and ease of integration

The equipment is available in 16 A, 20 A, 25 A and 63 A versions to suit the size of the installation. The models offer 2-, 3- or 4-pole configurations, allowing both the direct current from the solar panels and the detection and control from the AC side of the grid to be managed. In addition, it has three nominal voltage levels (500 V, 750 V and 1 000 V). Its 35 mm DIN rail mounting facilitates installation in existing panels, and its modular design allows the integration of additional protections or fuses.

Remote monitoring and control

The COMBI-PRO-FIRE not only trips automatically, but offers integrated status indicators and control terminals for connection to monitoring systems, allowing remote monitoring of whether the circuit is open or closed.
Its nominal power consumption of just 1.5 Wp and maximum power consumption of 5 W ensure efficient and sustained operation.

Resilience and reliability

This device has been designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions, with an operating range of -25 °C to +55 °C and an IP20 degree of protection. Its type C curve and 7.5 kA operating current rating ensure reliable performance against overcurrents. It also complies with the European Low Voltage and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directives.

Benefits for the photovoltaic installation

  • Legal and preventive securityCompliance with RD 164/2025 ensures that the installation complies with current fire protection regulations.

  • Protection of persons and equipmentEmergency shutdown prevents electrical hazards and protects both emergency services and operators.

  • Simple integrationDIN-rail mounting and integration into existing switchgear possible

  • ReliabilityHigh-quality components and 10 kA breaking capacity ensure long-lasting service.

The Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE is a specialised device that not only protects the photovoltaic system, but also complies with the latest standards and facilitates personal safety in case of fire.

How does the Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE work?

1. Normal operation

Toscano COMBI-PRO-FIRE normal

2. Activation conditions

  1. Excess temperature: If the temperature detected by the internal sensor exceeds 80º C
  2. Loss of power supply: If it detects a voltage failure due to power supply cost or general mains failure.
  3. Emergency mushroom pulsed: Al presses the emergency mushroom from a safe area.

3. Protection enabled
