Details of the Maxge Alpha+ 4P differential, 40A, 30mA. Class A superimmunised. 10kA - EPR4A040030

Maxge Alpha+ 4P differential, 40A, 30mA. Class A superimmunised. 10kA - EPR4A040030

The Maxge Alpha+ 4P, 30mA residual current circuit breaker is a protective device designed to automatically disconnect the installation when it detects earth leakage currents (shunts). These shunts can cause a risk of electrocution or fire due to insulation faults.
It is also designed to ensure the safety of people.

This is a 4-pole (4P) differential, so it is designed for three-phase systems with neutral (3 phases + N).
In this way, it provides complete surveillance of all active drivers.

As part of Maxge's Alpha+ range, it is aimed at providing greater reliability and stability in modern installations. This is especially useful in locations with a high presence of electronic loads.

Maxge Alpha+ 4P, 40A, 30mA Differential Characteristics

Configuration and electrical capacity

This differential is designed with a 4-pole configuration, which allows all active lines and the neutral to be monitored simultaneously.
This ensures complete detection of any earth leakage current that may occur in the installation.

The differential works with a 40 ampere rated current, This makes it suitable for main lines or subframes with medium-high power consumption.
This rated current determines the maximum that the circuit breaker can withstand continuously without tripping due to overload, provided there is no earth leakage.

Your sensitivity of 30 milliamps (mA) is the standard protection value recommended for personal protection.
If a current leakage of 30 mA or more is detected, the device switches off the circuit immediately. This prevents serious personal injury.

Protection and technology

As it is a Class A differential, is capable of detecting both residual alternating currents (AC) and pulsating currents with a direct current component (pulsating DC).
A Class A differential can identify more complex leaks than a basic Class AC differential. This therefore improves safety and ensures effective protection in existing installations.
It is also useful where equipment with integrated electronics or non-linear loads are used, such as modern household appliances, computers, LED lighting, chargers, air conditioning systems, variable frequency drives and switch-mode power supplies.

The super-immunised technology incorporated in the Alpha+ range allows for greater stability against electrical noise, voltage spikes or transient electrical disturbances in the network. This reduces unwanted tripping and ensures better continuity of supply without compromising safety.

Short-circuit robustness

With a 10 kA breaking capacity, The residual current device can interrupt fault currents of up to 10,000 amperes without damage or loss of protection. This is crucial in installations with a high short-circuit probability.
Thus, it provides greater robustness, safety and reliability and provides correct coordination with the magneto-thermal protections of the electrical panel.

Installation

This differential is designed to standard DIN rail mounting, This makes it easy to integrate them neatly into modular switchboards together with other devices such as circuit breakers, fuses or contactors.

Maxge Alpha+ 4P, 40A, 30mA differential operation

This differential has the following inner workings:

  • Constant monitoring: The differential compares in real time the sum of the currents entering through the phases and leaving through the neutral.
  • Leak detection: If there is a difference of more than 30 mA (an indication of earth leakage), the differential interprets that part of the current is flowing through an undesired path.
  • Immediate firing: The differential disconnects the circuit within milliseconds to prevent dangerous contact or fire starting.

It is an ideal choice for environments where safety and continuity of service are a priority, such as homes with a high level of electrification, commercial premises, offices and small industrial installations.
