MEGA Fuses

MEGA fuses are high-current ceramic fuses specifically designed for the protection of DC lines in photovoltaic systems and lithium battery systems. In contrast to conventional fuses for alternating current, MEGA solar fuses are certified for direct current - where arcing in the event of a short circuit is considerably more difficult to extinguish - and withstand the high short-circuit currents characteristic of modern lithium battery banks.

At FVComponentes.com we have MEGA fuses available. Victron Energy in all standard sizes for photovoltaic systems: 60A, 100A, 125A, 150A, 200A and 400A. Two voltage ratings are available: 32V for 12V and 24V systems, and 80V for 48V systems - the most common format for domestic installations with MultiPlus-II and Quattro.

To select the correct rating, the rule of thumb is to use 1.25 times the maximum current of the circuit to be protected. In a system with MultiPlus-II 48/5000 (maximum current ~100A), the MEGA fuse 125-150A at 80V is the usual standard.

They are supplied in packs of 5 units and are installed on fuse holder MEGA or in the Victron 6-place modular system. For high power installations where centralised distribution is required, the system Lynx from Victron integrates the MEGA fuses into a busbar with monitoring via VE.Can.
