Its Pulsar and Commander models are amongst the most widely installed in private homes in Spain, and here you\u2019ll find them alongside technical advice on power ratings, safety features and integration with solar panels.\n\nWhich Wallbox charger do I need?\nYour choice depends on three factors: your home\u2019s contracted power rating, your car\u2019s on-board charger and whether your supply is single-phase or three-phase.\n<strong>7.4 kW single-phase<\/strong> This is the correct setting for most Spanish homes: it recovers around 40 km of range per hour, meaning that a 60 kWh battery is fully charged overnight.\n<strong>11 or 22 kW three-phase<\/strong> It\u2019s only worthwhile if you have a three-phase supply and your car supports on-board three-phase charging. Many vehicles limit AC charging to 7.4 or 11 kW, so installing a 22 kW system doesn\u2019t always mean faster charging.\nIf your car is a <strong>plug-in hybrid<\/strong>, 3.7 kW is more than enough: its on-board charger rarely accepts any more.\n\nDynamic power control\nThis is the function that prevents the circuit breaker from tripping when you\u2019re charging the car and using the oven at the same time. The charger measures the rest of the house\u2019s power consumption via a meter on the main fuse box and adjusts the current supplied to the car in real time.\nIf you have a 5.75 kW contract and don\u2019t want to increase your power supply \u2014 which would make your standing charge more expensive \u2014 this feature is essential.\n\nCharging your car with your solar panels\nWith surplus energy management, the charger uses only the energy you would otherwise have fed into the grid. With a 5 kWp installation, that could amount to 20\u201330 kWh a week, which instead of being sold at the surplus rate is used to charge your car practically for free.\nFor this to work, you need a <a href=\"\/en\/product-category\/solar-inverters\/meters\/\">energy meter<\/a> in the panel and ensure that the charger communicates with the installation.
