The surge arrester costs a fraction of the price of the equipment it protects.\r\nOn the DC side, there is also a specific issue: a circuit breaker designed for AC does not correctly interrupt a DC arc, as there is no natural zero-crossing point. Specific DC switchgear must be used.\r\n<h2>How to assemble the frame<\/h2>\r\nA typical self-consumption system includes DC protection between the panels and the inverter, AC protection at the output, a suitable residual current device (RCD) and surge arresters on both sides.
