The converter allows both bus systems to coexist whilst you make the transition: the new 48 V bank is powered by the existing system, and the old 24 V loads continue to operate. It is a temporary solution, not a permanent one: every conversion involves losses and introduces a new point of failure.<\/p>\n<p>If the installation is set to expand, it makes sense to plan for a full switch to 48 V, where the current required for the same power output is half that of a 24 V system and the cabling works out much cheaper.
