In a lithium-ion installation, a large proportion of commissioning problems stem not from the battery itself but from the way it is connected.<\/p>\n<h2>What accessories do I need to set up a battery bank?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Interconnect cables:<\/strong> of a suitable cross-section and of equal length between modules, so that they all operate at the same resistance and share the current equally.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quick-connect power connectors:<\/strong> such as the 25 mm\u00b2 terminals in the ZYC and SIMPO series, which prevent poorly crimped terminals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stands and bases:<\/strong> The bench must be secured. A 50 kg lithium battery pack left loose in a van is a projectile.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Communication and monitoring modules:<\/strong> such as the Wi-Fi on the ZYC and SIMPO, to check the status without having to connect a cable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specific fasteners:<\/strong> the M10 kits for the Lynx systems, with the correct tightening torque.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why do all the cables on the bench have to be the same length?<\/h2>\n<p>Because current follows the path of least resistance. If one module is connected by a shorter cable than the others, it carries more current in each cycle, wears out sooner and eventually throws the whole system out of balance.<\/p>\n<p>The standard solution is the <strong>diagonal connection<\/strong>: the positive terminal of the system at one end of the bank and the negative terminal at the other, so that the total length is the same for all modules.<\/p>\n<h2>Do the terminals need to be tightened with a torque wrench?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, and it\u2019s one of the most overlooked issues. A loose terminal creates contact resistance, and that resistance generates heat in proportion to the square of the current. It is the number one cause of blown terminals in 12 V systems.<\/p>\n<p>Tightening it too much isn\u2019t good either: it can warp the terminal or damage the post.
