{"id":43369,"date":"2026-09-12T15:47:49","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T13:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fvcomponentes.com\/actualizar-firmware-inversor-fronius\/"},"modified":"2026-09-12T15:47:49","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T13:47:49","slug":"update-the-fronius-inverter-firmware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fvcomponentes.com\/en\/actualizar-firmware-inversor-fronius\/","title":{"rendered":"How to update the firmware on a Fronius inverter (Primo, Symo, GEN24) and register the warranty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fronius releases firmware updates that fix bugs, improve compatibility with batteries and meters, and adapt the inverter to changes in grid regulations. Several status codes (431, 436, 438, 480, 481, 558, 559, 564) can be resolved simply by updating the firmware. Here are the three methods, depending on the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Do it with <strong>sun<\/strong> or with the mains-powered inverter: an update interrupted due to a power cut may leave the equipment in recovery mode.<\/li><li>Make a note of the serial number and the current version (screen \u2192 About, or web interface \u2192 System).<\/li><li>Do not switch off the inverter during the process, which may take 10\u201320 minutes and may restart several times.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GEN24 and Tauro: automatic update or via the web interface<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GEN24 units update automatically if the option is enabled in the web interface <strong>Automatic updates<\/strong> (System \u2192 Update). This is the recommended approach: updates are installed overnight and do not interrupt production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To force it manually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Log in to the inverter\u2019s web interface (local IP address or access point; see <a href=\"https:\/\/fvcomponentes.com\/en\/fronius-solar-web-no-connection-datamanager-gen24\/\">how to connect<\/a>).<\/li><li>2. System \u2192 <strong>Update<\/strong> \u2192 Check for updates online \u2192 Install.<\/li><li>3. If there is no internet connection on the inverter: download the file from fronius.com (Product \u2192 Downloads \u2192 Firmware) and upload it using \u201cLocal Update\u201d.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Primo \/ Symo SnapINverter with Datamanager 2.0: from Solar.web<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. In Solar.web, open System \u2192 Settings \u2192 <strong>Components<\/strong> \u2192 inverter.<\/li><li>2. If a new version is available, the \u201cUpdate\u201d button will appear. Confirm and wait.<\/li><li>3. The Datamanager downloads the firmware and updates the Datamanager itself first, followed by the power stage (versions \u201cfro\u201d and \u201cusa\u201d or similar).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This method requires the inverter to be connected to Solar.web and updates everything to the latest official version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Primo \/ Symo: USB update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the traditional method and the only one available if the inverter is not connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Download the firmware for your model from fronius.com \u2192 Downloads. You will receive a file <strong>.upd<\/strong> (for example, froxxxxx.upd).<\/li><li>2. Copy the file to the <strong>root<\/strong> from a USB stick formatted in FAT32, with no folders or other files.<\/li><li>3. Open the bottom cover of the inverter and insert the USB stick into the Datamanager\u2019s USB port (with the inverter switched on).<\/li><li>4. On the screen: Settings \u2192 <strong>USB<\/strong> \u2192 Update software \u2192 confirm. The inverter reads the file, updates itself and restarts.<\/li><li>5. Check the new version under Information \u2192 Version.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the inverter does not recognise the USB stick: try a smaller one (maximum 32 GB) and make sure the file is for your product range (the Primo and Symo share the same firmware; the Eco and Galvo models have their own).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Register your inverter to extend the warranty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All Fronius inverters come with a 2-year manufacturer\u2019s warranty. By registering the equipment on Solar.web within the <strong>30 months<\/strong> After the purchase, the warranty becomes <strong>5 years<\/strong> (Fronius Warranty Plus) free of charge. Steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Create an account on solarweb.com and add the system using its serial number.<\/li><li>2. With the inverter connected to Solar.web, go to Profile \u2192 <strong>Warranty registration<\/strong> and fill in the details (date of installation and invoice).<\/li><li>3. You will receive the certificate by email. Keep it safe: the SAT will ask for it whenever you need to carry out any administrative procedures.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you bought the inverter from FV Componentes and need help with registration, please open a ticket at <a href=\"https:\/\/fvcomponentes.com\/en\/technical-support\/\">Technical support<\/a> along with the serial number and the invoice date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Versions and battery compatibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the GEN24 Plus, compatibility with each battery model (BYD HVS\/HVM, Reserva, LG) depends on the firmware version. Before installing a new battery, update the inverter to the latest version: the list of supported batteries is expanded with each release.
