Without it, Solar.web only displays generation; with it, it displays consumption, self-consumption and surplus, and allows <strong>to limit the injection<\/strong> (required for self-consumption without surplus) and to manage loads such as the Wattpilot or the Ohmpilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Available models<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Model<\/th><th>Use<\/th><th>Connection<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>TS 65A-3 Smart Meter<\/td><td>Three-phase and single-phase, direct measurement up to 65 A per phase<\/td><td>Modbus RTU (RS485)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>TS 100A-1 Smart Meter<\/td><td>Single-phase, direct measurement up to 100 A<\/td><td>Modbus RTU<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>TS 5kA-3 Smart Meter<\/td><td>Three-phase with current transformers (industrial)<\/td><td>Modbus RTU<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>IP Smart Meter<\/td><td>Single-phase\/three-phase, measured using current clamps<\/td><td>Ethernet \/ Wi-Fi (GEN24 and Tauro only)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GEN24 and Tauro models support up to three meters; the Primo\/Symo SnapINverter supports one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where is it installed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meter is fitted in the main distribution board, at the point where the circuit is connected to the mains (<strong>feed-in point<\/strong>), so that it measures everything that enters and leaves the property. If it is installed at the point of consumption (measuring loads only), this must be specified in the settings; the default setting is \u2018feed-in\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phase order: L1, L2 and L3 on the meter must match L1, L2 and L3 on the inverter. If they are out of phase, the consumption readings will be negative or inconsistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modbus RTU cabling (Primo, Symo, GEN24)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Use shielded twisted-pair cable (CAT5\/6 is fine). Maximum 300 m.<\/li><li>2. Connect <strong>D+ with M+ and D- with M-<\/strong> on the SnapINverter (Datamanager terminals) or in the Modbus block of the GEN24.<\/li><li>3. Activate the <strong>finishing resistance<\/strong> on the meter (switch set to ON) if it is the last device on the bus. In the Datamanager, the termination switch should also be set to ON if there are no further devices.<\/li><li>4. Modbus address of the meter: <strong>1<\/strong> by default (the factory setting). Do not change it unless you have several meters.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configuration on Primo \/ Symo (Datamanager 2.0)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Log in to the inverter\u2019s web interface (using the local IP address or via Solar.web \u2192 Device settings).<\/li><li>2. Settings \u2192 <strong>Meters<\/strong> \u2192 Select Fronius Smart Meter \u2192 Position: feed-in point.<\/li><li>3. Tap \u2018Check communication\u2019: it should display voltage and power readings.<\/li><li>4. If communication fails: check the D+\/D- polarity and termination, and ensure that, under Settings \u2192 Modbus, the RS485 port is set to \u201cMeter\u201d mode, not \u201cSlave\u201d mode.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setup on GEN24 \/ Tauro<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1. Inverter web interface \u2192 Device settings \u2192 <strong>Components<\/strong> \u2192 Add \u2192 Fronius Smart Meter (RTU or IP).<\/li><li>2. Assign the position (injection point) and Modbus address.<\/li><li>3. Save and check on Solar.web to ensure that your consumption and grid balance are displayed.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limit the power fed into the grid to 0 W<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For self-consumption with no surplus (or to limit consumption to the authorised power level), the inverter needs the Smart Meter to know how much electricity it is feeding into the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<strong>Primo \/ Symo:<\/strong> Settings \u2192 EVU Editor \u2192 <strong>Dynamic power limitation<\/strong> \u2192 Power limit for the entire installation \u2192 enter 0 W (or the authorised value, e.g. 5000 W). Save.\n\n\n\n<strong>GEN24 \/ Taurus:<\/strong> Settings \u2192 Power Manager \u2192 <strong>Export power limitation<\/strong> \u2192 Soft limit \u2192 0 W (or the desired value). The \u201chard limit\u201d switches off the inverter if exceeded; leave it disabled unless specifically required.\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the limit set to 0 W, the inverter will generate exactly the amount of power the house consumes. On Solar.web, you will see the output curve \u201ctruncated\u201d: this is correct; it is not a fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Common mistakes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Code 568 \/ no meter data:<\/strong> Reversed D+\/D- cable, termination not enabled, or Modbus address other than 1.<\/li><li><strong>Negative consumption or self-consumption of 0 %:<\/strong> meter installed in the wrong position or with the phases crossed.<\/li><li><strong>The inverter produces 0 W when there is sunshine:<\/strong> The limit is active and there is no usage. This is normal.<\/li><li><strong>Smart Meter IP is not displayed:<\/strong> The meter and the GEN24 must be on the same local network; check the meter\u2019s IP address via its web interface.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you also have a GEN24 Plus battery, the Smart Meter is essential: without it, the inverter won\u2019t know when to charge or discharge.
